Make sure that the ink carts are installed correctly and have ink in them.

1. Print a nozzle check pattern
2. Examine it
3. Clean the print head
4. Align the print head

Note: You may have to do the above 2 or 3 times to achieve the correct result.

    Cleaning the Print Head

Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozzles might be clogged. Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so perform print head cleaning only when necessary.

1 Ensure that the printer is on.

2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.

    3 Start Print Head Cleaning.

    (1) Click the Maintenance tab.

    (2) Click Cleaning .

    (3) When the message is displayed, click OK .

    Important

Do not perform any other operations until the head cleaning finishes. This takes about 50 seconds.

    Note

Print head cleaning can be performed also from the printer itself. Ensure the printer is on. Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button until the POWER lamp flashes once.

After print head cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the print head nozzles are clean.

If the problem remains even after you repeat print head cleaning twice, perform print head deep cleaning.

    Aligning Print Head

Aligning the print head position allows you to print without shifts in the color registration.

1 With the printer on, load a sheet of A4 or Letter paper in the printer.

2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.

    3 Print the pattern.

    (1) Click the Maintenance tab.

    (2) Click Print Head Alignment .

    (3) When the confirmation message is displayed, click OK .

    (4) After the pattern is printed, click Yes .

    4 Align the Print Head.

    (1) Look at the Print. From the patterns, select the most even, least irregular patterns and enter the number that corresponds.

    Note

If it is difficult to pick up the best pattern on Column H, pick the setting that produces the least noticeable vertical white stripes.

    (2) Click OK .

    (3) When the confirmation message is appeared, click OK .

    Print Head Deep Cleaning

If print quality does not improve by standard print head cleaning, try print head deep cleaning, which is a more powerful process. Print head deep cleaning consumes ink, so perform this procedure only when necessary.

1 Ensure the printer is on.

2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.

3 Start Print Head Deep Cleaning.

    (1) Click the Maintenace tab.

    (2) Click Deep Cleaning .

    (3) When the message is displayed, click OK .

    Important

The process takes one or two minutes to complete, so simply wait until the POWER lamp stops flashing.

    Note

After print head deep cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the print head nozzles are clean.

If the head is still not clean after the second deep cleaning, the print head may be worn out, even if ink remains in the ink tanks. In this event, contact a Canon service representative

Have you added a new Yellow cartridge? If not you should do so and then do nozzle test print and clean until it works OK

I have a Canon Pixma iP4300 printer and the Yellow ink is not printing. I have changed the particular cartridge and all other colours are working except Yellow. I have cleansed the printer several times and tried with new Yellow ink cartridges with new chips, but nothing helps.
What should I do?

Yellow ink will not print

On the Brother MFC series printers it uses remote ink trays as you will know, instead of having print heads directly on the ink cartridge. Whilst this approach makes it cheaper to produce the ink, and easier to change the cartridge, it can make it difficult to clear clogs.

There are several things you can do which may help, but B. and C. are at your own risk. All steps assume you have a new yellow ink cartridge.

A. In paint or another program, create a full page yellow image and keep printing it out. See if it gets any better after each print. If it does, continue until it seems to be working fine.

B. If you can manage to get to the print head, you can get a cue tip, dip it in rubbing alcohol and gently clean the print head. Leave 20 minutes to dry, and then do step A. again.

C. (AS A VERY LAST RESORT AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS IS GOING TO RUIN YOUR YELLOW INK CARTRIDGE SO USE AN OLD YELLOW ONE IF YOU CAN) If steps A. and B. fail, you can put a "little" rubbing alcohol in the Yellow Ink Cartridge, and keep trying step A. If Yellow starts printing again, swap to a yellow cartridge that does not have rubbing alcohol in it. You are now going to have to cycle through many pages to clear the rubbing alcohol from the ink lines.

Note that if you keep cleaning the cartridges, it is going to use a lot of ink, and may actually hinder solving your yellow ink problem.

Good uck

When printing a photo has a yellow/green tint. All other functions work it prints and scans great. Just have a problem with printing photos.

Possibly it is running low on Blue ink - because colors are usually a mixture of inks - for example green is made from blue and yellow - if an ink runs low it will print the available colors or substitute the next available color.Probably if it prints green yellow - then it has no blue available to make the right shade.

Print colour is off

Sounds like you have cyan and magenta ink but no yellow. (You need yellow to get yellows, greens, reds and orange shades.) First try running the printer utility to clean your ink jets, then run a test print. If this does not work then simply replace the yellow ink cartridge.

Alarm flashes ink emptyhas ink! color was printing only yellow/green now prints only red/pink!

any chance it has dried out? run the test / head cleaning / did you reset the cartridge when you replaced it? generally if one or two colors work - the problem is the ink cartridge or the head for the colors not working. Did you remove the "tape" on the new cartridge?

Black and yellow ink not printing

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.

Cannot get yellow to print

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge. Yellow quit printing, put in a new yellow and still would not print yellow. I had a help file, don't know where I got it, but it suggested replacing the black ink cartridge also, even though the black wasn't low yet. Replaced the black, ran a few nozzle cleans and everything worked fine. Don't know why. Try it
