Question about HP PL4245N 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
My HP PL4245N Plasma looks fine for around 20 minutes of turning it on, and then a black growth starts to spread across the sreeen. When a scene changes or goes to commercial, the screen goes back to normal. But then the black area starts to grow again. This happens when watching both DVD & Dish input signals.
Any idea on what's causing this and how serious is it to solve?
This sounds like a problem with gas in the panel, early plasmas suffered with similar problems and was due to excessive periods when they were stored face down, a plasma must always be stored verticle and not laid down.
I cannot help you with this but if its under warranty it could be due to either warehouse storage or the carrier.
