Carburetor may need rebuild, sound like diaphragm are not pumping fuel.
I would get a compression test on the cylinder to see if it is at 100 psi. This is the compression the cylinder needs to be at to run. You may pay a few dollars to get a shop to do this but it will tell you if it is worth fixing before you spend alot of money.

Echo pb 500t. Starts and idles OK. When I advance throttle, why does it die?

Hi Alex:
Odds are pretty good that the screen in the muffler is plugged with carbon. The back pressure will stop it from running.
My suggestion?
Remove the muffler. Clean all the bits in solvent and air blow dry.
Re-assemble and
Ta Da!

My Echo PB-251 will not start.

I know you checked the plug, but it can fire outside the cylinder and then not fire under compression.
If you have compression, fuel, and spark at the right time you should get combustion.

I have an PB250 echo blower which starts fine but i can't give it throttle, it seems like it's not getting fuel or air

What I do is take the carb off being careful not to break any gaskets, take it completely apart soak it in carb cleaner blow the parts dry and reassemble. replace the fuel tank filter, plug if fouled, and readjust the HI & LO speed jets. Works for me several times, leaving fuel in the tank and carb it gums up, run the carb dry before storing.

I have an echo pb400e backpack blower. it wont start. getting fire but wont crank.

is your spark plug getting wet from fuel? try take air snorkel off carb and give it a shot of carb cleaner if it fires you have a fuel problem if it doesent fire , and plug is wet pull plug and rollover and get excess fuel out of cylinder, and try carb cleaner again, if no luck check compression, then if good go to flywheel and see if loose

Im a small engine tech im working on a echo pb251 it has spark and getting fuel but will not start, even sprayed carb cleaner in cylinder and it will not fire any ideas

have you checked the muffler and ex port for carbon / blockage?

have you checked the timming key ?

does the unit have enough compression ? by enough i mean 100 psi or above is considered
the btm limit

does the machine fire on 2 stroke mix , if you pour some in plug hole ?

will it fire again if you spray into carb throat with the carb on ?

is the spark still there while under compression pressure ( test using spark tester ) connect between h t lead and spark plug, you should see it spark and jump a 6.00 mm gap to pass a spark load test

if the unit does not fire with mix in plug hole suspect compression ?

if the unit does not fire with mix sprayed into carb throat - suspect a induction problem

ie a air leak either around carb, manifold , or intake boot ( if it has one ), base gasket , crank seals or impluse hose or cracked insulator if it has one

either way i think you will need to pressure & vacuum test crankcases for leaks

you will need to block off intake and ex and put in a air adapter inthe plug hole to connect a pressure or vacuum tester

place piston @ bdc and pressurize to 7 -8 psi check around areas as above of leaks with soapy water , you will see bubbles where a leak is , but the pressure remains constant for at least 2 minutes thats good , the use a vaccuum tester and apply 20 - 30 inches vaccuum to c/cases
vaccuum should hold if not use crc or soapy water to find where uit is

a 2 stroke will exhibit symptoms such as ,revs out far too much ( lean ) overspeed -
very hard to start, or no start , run hot , have low power , stall if trying to idle or seem to raise their idle speed up and down , cannot get reliable hi / lo adjustments set on carb

2 strokes need air tight cases to create vacuum and pressure pulses to pump mixture to cylinder and to operate the carb fuel pump diaphrams

remember this F A C T S

F = Fuel

A = Air

C = Compression

T = Timming

S = Spark

cheers pauly 46
hope it helps

Running fine then suddenly stopped. could not get it to start back up, so i took it to the local shop. they cleaned carb and verified it had plenty of spark. they said maybe the carb was bad. i installed...

sounds like it has leaking crankshaft seals...or I have had them break a ring and score piston and can verify this by removing muffler and checking piston through there ...if no scores, I would think seals are faulty...

My echo leaf blower shuts down after a few minutes of operation, I have replaced fuel lines and Gas

I would also take the air filter element off and clean and reoil it. You may be pulling sufficient fuel, but if there isn't enough air in the mix, your leaf blower will stall out.
I would clean the air filter, and you may want to take the carb unit off and spray it out with aerosol carb cleaner. The carb cleaners are available at local auto parts houses, and it comes with a small spray tube to put on the nozzle so you can pinpoint the spray into the carb jets etc.

Also change your spark plug as they get fouled due to the fuel oil mixture..
best of success!

Starter rope hard to pull

Usually these motors get tough to pull through when there's moisture (water) somewhere in the fuel system.
Fuel compresses, but water won't and when you pull a bit of water in the cylinder it will buck back on you.
Best bet is to drain the carb, fuel lines, and tank and put all fresh fuel/oil in. you can also pull the spark plug and pull the motor through with the plug out to dry the cylinder...
