Question about Amana AOCS3040 Electric Single Oven

2 Answers

I have an Amana wall oven with a persistent F9 problem. Is ther any way to isolate or remove the door latch assembly to solve the problem. I have tried isolating the switch and motor assembly but the door lock relay keeps cycling.

This oven has cost me a fortune over the years and I want to get it back working as an oven as cheaply as possible. I do not care if I cannot use the atomatic clean function. I just want to fool the diagnostics into thinking that the latch is in the correct position. What exactly does the controller board look for to determine that there is a latch problem? Since the latch assembly only consists of a motor and two micro switches it must be possible to replace it with a couple of wires?

The normal convention for interlock switches is positive and therefore the switch as to be made to allow the appliance / function to operate. Therefore, as you have already tried to isolate it you really only have one option left and that is to replace the inter lock switch assembly. Before doing so it is worth checking the continuity of the wiring from the switch assembly back to the controller board with the power switched off just to see if there are any breaks etc. Use an Ohm Meter if possible to see if they are all low resistance as they should be.

Got F9 on Amana range model ACS3350 while trying to clean oven. The door is locked and got constant beeping with F9 error code. Powered off oven for 10 minutes and powered on, still getting the door...

Shut off the circuit breaker to it for FIVE minutes, then back on. If the problem persists then do the following:

A latch locks the center top INSIDE of the door during cleaning.
Run a piece of semi-stiff, flat object, like a cardboard strip that is in L shape behind the top lip of the door from RIGHT TO LEFT. You may need to push it along with your finger jambed in there when it reaches the latch. With a little push the latch should open.

Try to run the oven, if F9 shows again, press cancel Oven to quiet it. The Lock state is still in place. Move the latch hook manually all the way to RIGHT. Then shut off the circuit breaker for FIVE minutes, then back on. The oven should work ok.

If this fails again try the five minute shut off with the latch in other starting positions.

If none of these work then the latch mechanism, or it's motor is really broken. Replace or ditch and never buy Amana again!

F9 reset, no heat and door wont lock for cleaning. no heat for regular oven either

Hi. The unit is programmed to not operate,or heat, when there is a serious fault within the door latch assembly. This F-9 code, represents a failed door latch assembly. This device must be replaced. Once replaced, the unit will operate correctly.

NOTE_ Try to reset the mechanism. This can be done by shutting down the power, or unplugging for five minutes. Once the five minutes have passed, simply, re-introduce power to the unit, and observe. if the error code returns, replace the door latch assembly.

Oven door is open, but F9 now signals, trying to turn on

HI. this F-9 code is signaling a major door mechanism malfunction. the best action is to replace the entire door latch assembly. this will heel the F-9 alert and, fix the problem you are experiencing at this time.

Please rate and, have a great evening:)
