Hi,
I had exactly the same problem two weeks ago.. My local Renault dealer who we bought the car off just rang Renault with the Reg number and got the code over the phone.
He didn't charge me for this as the car should have come with the code but he said that normally Renault would charge €10 which he would have passed on to the customer.
He also said that if the code didn't work then he would have to start pulling the radio apart to get all the numbers but thankfully it didn't come to that..
Possibly it's worth a few quid for the quick fix.. Or if you bought the car from the dealer try the "it should have come with the code" argument and see if you can get it free..
First make sure that the code has not been noted somewhere within the car (underneath the ash tray, glove box , rear of sun visor etc)
To see if your code is available here for free then the radio will have to be removed from the dashboard (and if you are lucky, someone may have written the code on the casing ) .
If not then POST ANOTHER QUESTION
quoting the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING
There should be a 14 character Serial Number beginning with
RN++++++++++++ and a Renault Security Code in the format TOA123 or TA123 or just A123 at the end of a barcode....so quote everything you can find
If not then try your Main Dealer ...........or take it into a Decode Service who will plug in a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM). This takes a few minutes and shouldn`t be too expensive
