Gateway desk top computer with windows xp

You can unplug and replug your keyboard and see if it will fix the problem. If it didnt fix the problem , i would advice you to try another keyboard. I had the same problem few months ago and everything works fine after i replace my keyboard.

Gateway model KR-0817 WILL NOT TYPE I HAVE TO USE THE ON SRCEAN TO TYPE

Make sure the keyboard's "tail" is plugged-in to the _keyboard_ slot on the motherboard.

Try the keyboard on another computer, to see if it works at all.

Connect a "known-working" keyboard to your computer, to see if _any_ keyboard works.

Try a keyboard with a USB "tail".

I have a gateway nv54, the keyboard isnt workng... when i try to use it, it gives me something like this : hedllo, hows arged yhou?

It sounds like the batteries are going bad. Replace the batteries and if that doesn't work, resync the keyboard with the wireless device plugged into the computer.

Refer to your manufactuar's documentation to do this correctly. Most of the time there will be a button on the wireless device and on the back of the keyboard. You would usually just hold down the wireless device's button until the indicator light starts to flash and then hold down the keyboard's button until they both show up solid.

well hmy friend let me allow you to know that a lot of the newer usb technology requires for you to use a 2.0 usb port and for example your keyboard might be one of them.. a 1.1 usb item will work on a 2.0 but a 2.0 wont work on a 1.1 hope that gives you a clue on what to do and sorry for your troubles hope you can get it fixed

USB port is plug-and-play, however, PS/2 port is not.
therefore, what you have to do is shunt down the computer and plug in the keyboard, then fire up the computer.
once you unpluged the keyboard. and plug it back again, the computer will not recognize the keyboard is attached, but it knows when the keyboard is disconnected.

Wireless keyboard

It could be a bad battery in the keyboard itself (I would suspect this first) or You may need to download and install the 'driver' from Gateway.
