HP4180 all-in-one gear slipping problem. We've had this machine for about 1 year and have run no more than 50 copies through it. Under the glass there is a mechanism that moves along a strip with gear teeth. On the underside of the moving mechanism there is an electric motor with a black worm gear on the shaft. The worm gear runs a larger, white gear that in turn moves the mechanism along the geared strip. My problem is that the larger white gear and the worm gear don't align perfectly and now the teeth on the larger white gear are worn concave on about 20% of the circumference of the gear. Where can I get a new gear? I spaced the larger gear up with a thin washer so the worm gear would ride on a small portion of non-worn teeth and it works now but its only a matter of time before it slips again. Can anyone tell me what this moving mechanism is called that goes from side to side under the glass. The worn gear is housed in the underside of this mechanism. Looks like avery poor design as there is no way to adjust or align the gears. Thanks.
