Question about Intel D845EPI (INTELKD845EPILPAK10) Motherboard

1 Answer

Seek Help eMachine was working fine until y-day and I noticed it is off and is not coming on. I opened it and tried to power on. The fans start, Motherboard green light comes on but the Front Panel USB cathode on the Motherboard is on too. After some time (say 30 sec) the red light goes off and it shuts off the fans too (only the mother board green light is ON) and nothing happens.

T5020 emachine seems to have dead power supply- how can I confirm?

If the PSU fans only work for a short time usually this means that the PSU is shot

If you suspect your power supply has gone bad, there are a few basic things you can do to test it. First, plug the computer in and try to start up the computer. If the computer can start up or shows signs of having power (the hard drives spin up, or the fans turn on) the power supply might be fine, and you may have an issue with your motherboard or RAM. If the computer won't start at all, open the case and then turn the power supply on and attempt to start the computer. Observe the motherboard to see if any lights turn. If no lights turn on and there is no sign that power is being supplied to any of your devices, there's a decent chance that the power supply has burned out. If your computer experiences periodic crashing, feel the case near the power supply to see if it is hotter than normal, and smell the air. If the case is much hotter than normal or you smell burning, your power supply might be overheating, and may be damaged. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm hope this helps

My pc won't start. It starts with a black screen and that's it.

Try the following solutions:
1. Try removing the battery check if the computer display BIOS. If not
2. check if the power supply fan is working
If yes - the PSU is OK
If no - replace PSU
3. Check if the motherboard LED indicator is lighted
If yes - motherboard works fine
If no - replace motherboard
4. BIOS need to be change

Thanks. Cheers!

Emachines t3958 wont power on

The green light means there is standby power to the motherboard.
Power button may be broken, does it 'click'?
With the case open, do any of the fans start, then stop?
If yes to the above, you may have a bad power supply. Can you borrow one to try?
Last test before it's the chip or mother board:
Remove the connectors for power from drives, video card, all but the motherboard (Do NOT disconnect small connectors on the motherboard, just POWER from the drives and video card)
Remove any expansion cards except video. Note where they go.
Try again. If it starts and fans run ok (video may not work but fans go normally.), shut it off, reconnect the video card. Try again, power off, connect or install one thing at a time until it stops running again. The last item plugged in is the culprit.
Always one item, power on, try it, then power off, try the next one.

I have a EMachine T6534 which won't start. I shut

I agree...sounds like a power supply problem. Typically a bad power supply will not damage the motherboard. It should still be functional.

Emachines doesn't start

Thank you for choosing Fixya.com

It could be a number of things but what i believe its going to be is the motherboard. The motherboard is not getting the power probally because the connections are bad. Are you getting any beep codes? or is it just powering up the fan? If it gives a beep code respond with that but i would almost bet its the motherboard.

No start up , button lites up - cd-rom wont open , noticed no fans on for 3d card or big one on mother board

If the cpu/heatsink fan isn't turning then most pc's will shut down to avoid further damage to cpu & board. I would first replace the fan if it's the one over your cpu. Try replacing power supply. If your board has the 4 pin plug, you must have that plugged in. But keep in mind if that fan isn't running a new power supply isn't going to make it start working. You have to have that fan working. Then go from there. If once it is working & other devices like video and/or roms aren't, check your memory. The best way to troubleshoot devices are to plug one at a time in and power up until the problem starts. Hopefully you won't have to go to that step.

I understand that your cpu is not turning on and the repairer confirmed that it is the issue with the mother board. I suggest you to please check the smps fan spinning or not. If its spinning then then the issue could be with the mother board. If not try changing the power cables.

Next check whether your cd rom light is glowing. Even if there is an issue with the mother board, as the power is supplied by the smps the light  should glow if the light is not glowing its clear that something must be wrong with smps.

Please provide us the result of the above steps so that I could assist you further.
