Hi,
Not a big problem, but you will need to contact Tascam to replace the battery, as instructed in the manual at page 87 (14.6.2). Here manual: 01-TM-D4000 (EN) fm.cover
I have checked third party part sellers, they do not sell parts for this model. You need to contact Tascam.

I have mixer tascam tm-d4000 stopped working now shows on the screen "fatal error" what I have to do

I'd suggest flashing the onboard CMOS and check for updates. A fatal error is usually caused by corrupted programming on these units. If you're not comfortable flashing the CMOS I'd suggest taking this unit to a service and repair professional.

Flashing the CMOS is relatively easy. Take off the bottom cover and you'll see a ton of wires and a control board and the back end to the main computer unit. Open the secondary case up and look for a watch battery on board. Pop it out and let the unit sit for awhile (10 minutes to an hour). This is usually a good time to buy a replacement battery. Once you've got the new battery pop it back in and it should brought the unit back to a factory reset state. Any stored programs will have to be reprogrammed but the unit should work. If you still get a fatal error it might suggest hardware failure. Some of the newer models of the Tascam series mixers (including submodels of the TS4000 series) have a hardware diagnostic that is available, while some of the simpler units just give you their version of a blue screen of death. Which could indicate anything from a lose connection and an error reading a subcontrol, to a blown capacitor, blown fuse, short circuit. If it's still under warranty I'd speak to the manufacturer about getting it repaired. They might also offer more sufficient troubleshooting over the phone for your issue.

I do believe there is a factory reset button code you can also try for this unit, but in my experience this doesn't really clear the memory and reset the unit properly. It's like a warm reset instead of a proper reset.

Do you have the service manual and the necessary tools and experience? If not take it to a service shop it will be more cost effective.

Hi I have a tascam tm-d4000 it stopped working now shows on the screen "fatal error"

Usually, this is a symptom of a main board failure. Sometimes rebooting the mixer will temporarily stop the error. If there are any additional numbers (like 99-00000009-00) in the error message, you can try resetting the unit. Press and hold Shift and Mixer Position and then turn on the Mixer. The unit will need to be professionally serviced or replaced. Since it is a discontinued model, check your warranty. It may be cheaper to replace the mixer.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have a Tascam TM-D1000 digital mixer that has a TDIF output and want to connect this to my computer. Do I need a PCI 822 card or is there another option to connect?

I have a TMD1000 connected to my computer via the RCA ( Red & White) outputs on the mixer to an M-Audio 2496 Sound card in the computer.
also via the Digital out on the mixer to Digital in connector on the card.
I then edit recordings on the computer with Cubase pro.

Tascam DM-24 Digital Mixer Problem

I purchased a used Tascam DM-24 mixer about 2 years ago, and it 's been running great. Just about 2 months, it frequently shut itself off with a message:
" Power Supply voltage (+5V) is too low for stable operation. Please restart DM-24".
Of course, many attempts of restarting the board, but it won't turn back on after several hours later, and only lasts about half a day work only. Very frustrating. Any idea I could get help or fixed? million thanks for suggestions. Brian
