Heating element disconnected

Make sure to keep breaker to oven off because wire could short against back of oven and start a fire. You need to disconnect the tilt bracket and pull the oven out. Replace the clip on the wire if needed. Make sure to reattach tightly. Put it back in the wall, reattaching anti-tip bracket. It should work.

How do i change an oven element

Firstly locate the element, in some cases there will be a large panel at the back of the oven covering the element. Before proceeding any further turn off your power. The Element is held into place by a few screws, remove these ensuring you don't strain the power connectors. Gently take off the power cable clips disconnecting the element from the oven. Replace element with new one, connecting clips and screwing into place be very careful and they easily break. Turn on power and test.
Goodluck!

I need to replace the bottom element in my oven

You need to check the heating element for continuity and the thermistor for continuity. Use an ohmmeter or multimeter to check. The element should not be any reading over 24 ohms for a 220-250V supply and not over 12 ohms for a 110Vac supply. A good tip is to take digital photos of the job before starting on removing and testing wiring etc so that you can refer back to it if you have to replace any items or forget which wires attach to any particular terminal etc.

To test and replace the element:

  1. Turning off the mains power to the oven.
  2. Remove the lower back panel. Fan assisted ovens will have a coiled 2 or 3 turn element around the outside of the fan.
  3. Remove the 2 power connectors to the grill element if one is fitted.
  4. Check the element resistance reading on the main oven heating element and not the grill element.
  5. The thermistor or fusible link is located on top of the oven cavity if fitted and has two wires attached to it - most likely to be red and black or both white wires.
  6. Remove the earthing wire to the main oven heating element screw terminal.
  7. Unscrew the grill element securing screws(s) - there will be 1 or 2 depending on the element fitted to your oven. Do this from inside the oven cavity itself.
  8. Refit the new element (make sure it has the same mounting screw holes as the one you want to remove) then secure it.
  9. Reconnect the earthing wire to the element screw post.
  10. Make sure that neither of the element tags touch the chassis - check with a continuity tester of ohm meter and adjust if required.
  11. Reconnect the power cables to the main oven heating element.
  12. Reconnect the power cables to the grill element if one is fitted.
  13. Reconnect the power and check that the element works correctly.
  14. Disconnect the mains power again and replace the rear panel(s).
  15. Reconnect the mains power and recheck that the oven, and if appropriate the grill, functions correctly.

How do i change the lower heating element in my oven?

74004107 - ELEMENT, BAKE (LOWER)
disconnect unit from power.
remove screws from lower element.
slide old element straight back slowly towards you so the wires follow it through the holes.
as you disconnect the wires from the old element either give them a bit of a bend so they do not slide back through the hole and get lost or immediately hook them onto the new element that you could sit below the old element for transferal of wires.
make sure wires are attached securely and reinstall.
hope this helps,
best of luck,
ttfn

My oven isn't getting hot

Most likely one of the elements in the lower oven. For this job you will require basic tools and a multimeter to check the individual elements resistance.
This Must be done with the oven isolated from the mains supply Before beginning work.
remove the screws holding the element in place carefully pull a few CM's of cable through the holes in the oven bulkhead and disconnect the element from the supply cables.
With the element out check for short circuit and breakdown from Mains supply to earth. Using the multimeter on resistance setting check between the terminals and the outer casing there should be no connection here at all. any lower than 2M ohms is asking for trouble.
Check the heating elements by probing onto either end of the element and reading the result back as an example a 230V 2500W element should read around 21 Ohms. Elements are not repairable internally.
