SOURCE: lens cover

Send the camera into repairs. There is nothing that you can do yourself that would fix this.

SOURCE: Lens cover sticks closed.

If you're careful this problem is a relatively easy fix for many digital cameras. The design of the lens cover mechanism is usually simple and very similar throughout camera brands. Here's an example fix for a Canon A400 with similar problems:

SOURCE: lens will not retract

Just solved this problem on my Dimage G530. An earlier time the lens (inner part) was cocked to one side after a small drop. Pulling it back straight, out of the outer part, fixed it and the lens closed.

Then just this past trip, the lens was not retracting with the MF00C error and the lens looked straight. It had opened in a pocket and gotten bumped. I had even taken the case off but that did not offer any insight into fixing the problem. (They certainly cram a lot into the case). I was about to give up and just buy a new camera or was going to inquire at vistek to see how much it would cost to have it looked at this Saturday because I really like the camera. Anyway, to make a long story short. I decided to pull hard on the inner part to pull it out - basically try to cock it to one side then the other. The lens popped out to it normal position and now everything works fine. So it appears that if bumped the lens goes to a lock position to prevent any damage to the drive mechanism.

Hope this helps someone else with this problem.

SOURCE: lens cover stays open

hello lmsmith, the reason the lens protection shutter does not close, is that it is either jammed by sand, dirt or sticky substance. it is going to need cleaning by a qualified technician.

SOURCE: Samsung L730 wont extend lens and dosent turn on right

Met the same problem. I disassembled camera and found a lot of sand in lens transmission. I couldn't move lens even by hand. It was strongly jammed. I had to disassemble lens block completely to remove all sand. Now camera fully functional.

Samsung S85 camera wont turn on. When the power button is pressed the green light flashes and the camera beeps three times than turns off. how do i fix it?

I quote the solution posted for another expert about this same problem...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My daughter has a Samsung S850, and returned from a weekend trip last night. She pressed the "Power" button and the blue light next to the button came on, as did the screen. The camera then gave a "buzzy beep" three times and shut-down. She decided the batteries were low and replaced them with ordinary AAA alkaline batteries, nothing special, and got the same result.

This morning I checked the voltage on the new and old batteries with a volt-ohm meter and found the old ones were low but the new ones were good.

I read this site and saw a comment that the camera worked after the lens was worked a little bit.

Upon a close look at the lens, I could see tiny grains of sand around the outside of the glass, so I got a wooden toothpick and gently worked the sand out with plenty of tapping on a solid surface to drop them from the area. I also worked the tip of a clean toothpick under what appears to be a soft rubber sealing ring on the outer surface of the glass.

After all this, when the "Power" button was pushed, the lens moved out and the screen lighted, and all the camera now seems to be working.

I should add that shortly after my daughter bought the camera, she lost some kind of metal or plastic ring from around the lens, and that left the "works" around the lens open to view: I can see two tiny screws the lens that are probably ordinarily covered.

Is the lens supposed to be covered by a curtain when power is off? From what I see, the lens is always uncovered. Maybe that lost ring held something else!

Its possible that
it needs repaired by samsung; You can follow the below link for tech support - http://www.samsung.com/uk/info/contactus.html

There are a number of things you can try to fix this problem. Here is a blog that explains what to try:

The web page deals with lens error messages as well as stuck lens, and they say about 50% of the time you can get the camera working again.

We have a Samsung S85 and the lens is sticking. It either will not go in or will not come out without effort on our part. when it is stuck it beeps 4 times and shuts off. What can we do to fix this?...

You can try with fully charged batteries. If this does not help, you may need to take it to a camera repair shop or buy a new one.

Overall there have been issues with the S85, as the lens gives a problem. Lubricating can be a good idea but you should not use any liquid that can not evaporate, however the best idea woudl be to go to the nearest Samsung dealer and have it checked.

Samsung S1065 does not turn on, beeps 3 times before powering off. Lens is extended, have checked batteries, not sure what else to do??

I had the same problem, firstly you will be able to press the button on the back to view your pictures, when you do and the camera powers up quickly press the menu button. Check that your battery settings are set to alkaline, then buy some good alkaline batteries and not cheap ones. Check that they are alkaline and not like what I did and bought panasonic zinc carbon.
This worked for me and mine would not turn on either until i changed the batteries to a good make.

S85 camera will not turn on just beeps three times

I figured out the fix:
Take the batteries out, put them back in and close the battery cover. Next, turn on the camera and before it can finish the three beep sequence, open up the battery cover(disconnecting the battery power). Close the battery cover (reconnecting the batteries) and switch on the camera. It may take a couple of tries, but it seems to be a "poor man's reset"

the lens cover switch of your camera have a poor contact that why that message is appearing...you have no choice but to disassemble the camera for repairing or cleaning that switch....i suggest you have to go the service center now and don't try open your camera if you are not a technician cause you may damage the flexwire of the lcd monitor if you not properly remove the cover...
