Touchpad on toshiba equium A200-1VO laptop not working

I have a toshiba equium A200-1VO laptop and the touch pad has stopped working. The cursor never moves on the screen. I have tried everything from going into the 'mouse properties' etc but no luck. Is there anything else I can do or should I buy a mouse for it? thanks for any help. Sarah

Maybe try updating the drivers for the touchpad or adjusting the settings in the control panel.

You can update drivers for the touchpad in the device manager.

I have an HP laptop with a touch pad mouse that sometimes makes the cursor go all over the screen. When this happens, a small box appears on the tip of the cursor and nothing I do will stop it from making...

you need new touch pad mouse or reseat connectors on motherboard/touchpad, you will have to open computer to do this (not easy if you dont know how to do it)

Acer aspire touch pad not working

There are many possible fixes. To do some forensic work it would be best to know what was going on when the touch pad stopped working. It could very easily be the driver. You can see if that's it in device manager. Locate your touch pad device there and right-click on the device, choose "update driver".

Some laptops, my Toshiba for instance, have an option to configure the touchpad to disable when it senses a USB mouse or keyboard connecting. I have mine set to disable because when I'm typing on the onboard keyboard and I accidently slightly brush the touchpad, it sends the cursor all over the page and usually I lose everything I just typed.

The problem might also be a matter of a bogus setting in the Service Manager. There are a number of services that are related to your touchpad or mouse.

try re-starting the computer; if that does not work install an external moue and try navigating withthat. If that works it is that the touchpad has been damaged; or the drivers arecorrupt
