Question about Kenmore HE2 Plus Front Load Washer

HE 2 Plus fills with water for 5 minutes and then F20 error.

HE 2 Plus fills with water for 5 minutes and then displays F20 error. I can see the water level about 2 inches up the glass so I know it's filled with enough water.

The problem doesn't appear to be a supply problem. Hoses work fine, tub fills with water for 5-6 minutes the I get the F20 error. If I reset the machine by unplugging it with water in the tub, when I restart it the tub continues to fill with water for another 5-6 minutes and then the F20 code. I don't think it could be a supply problem because at the tub is now 3/4 full of water and I get the code.

I think the problem could very well be the pressure switch. Is there any way I check to see if the switch is functioning properly? I don't want to buy a $50 switch only to find out the control board is the problem. If it isn't working are there any adjustments I can make? (I can see 4 small screws on the switch body that appear to be adjustment screws)

Hello. i can assist you. here is the protocol for error F20 on your machine - If there is water in the unit:
Verify drain pump operation.
Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and
properly connected to tub and pressure switch.
1. Verify there is not a siphon problem.
2. Press STOP twice to clear the display. The
machine will drain for 3 minutes before unlocking the door.
3. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
4. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch,
drain pump and Central Control Unit (CCU).
5. Check all hoses for possible leaks.
6. Plug in washer or reconnect power

8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.

Error F 20 means "No Water Detect" error. It is an indication that you either have no water coming into the washer, or very little water at all. If the pressure switch has not tripped after 6 minutes, the error code is displayed.

Check your wiring connectors where it plugs into the CCU and water level pressure switch, if thats ok, then its possibly the water level pressure switch thats bad.

Open the top panel to get access to the CCU and water level pressure switch, there are 3 screws in the back that hold your top panel on.
---------------replacing the pressure switch solved the problems for many users. ----------------------you can get parts from www.partselect.com or from www.repairclinic.com---------thanks.this will help.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.thanks.

F20 is the insuficiant water level
The things that usually cause the F20 Error code are:

  1. Pressure switch (If the pressure switch does not reset the washer will think that there is not any water coming in)
  2. Hose & air dome
  3. Also be sure the drain hose is not down the stand pipe too far, this will create a siphon & will never satisfy the pressure switch.
Just a s a note, this is a common problem with this washing machine.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi,

F20" is a water inlet problem. This indicates that you have no water or insufficient water supply. What Whirlpool recommends to do is unplug the washer and check your water inlet screens to ensure they are not clogged, check the inlet hoses for kinks, and to make sure your taps are turned on (duh! I know it sounds stupid, but I've seen it before).

To check the water inlet screens you will need to turn off the water supply and disconnect the hoses where they connect to the back of the washer. The inlet screens are located inside the tap fittings and sometimes will collect with sediment and rust depending on your water source. Some hoses also have sediment screens. Check them as well if you have them. Use cotton swabs to clean the screens, thoroughly.

Checking the hoses and taps is self-explanatory. The water supply coming into the washer should be at least 10-25 psi. Insufficient water pressure can cause problems with slow fills and/or error codes due to insufficient pressure. If you haven't had any problems before, I would suspect dirty inlet screens and/or a inlet valve failure.

If you need to replace the water inlet valve, searspartsdirect.com carries the part. Just type in your model number in the Search menu and look for item #1 under the "Dispenser Parts" . The part runs about $52.00.

To be precise with my solution :-

F-20 means
"F20" on display
(Water Inlet Problem-no water or insufficient
water supply) Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle
Unplug washer or disconnect power. Check the following: Are water faucets completely turned on?
Are screens at inlet hose connection to washer
clogged? Are water inlet hoses kinked? Are water inlet hoses frozen

if you checked all of this and your still getting this code then its probally your water valve solenoid.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Do accept the solution, if 100% satisfied from my service!!

Getting f20 error code, how to check flow meter operation

Check for stuck socks or something just under the door seal at the bottom of the drum. Check filter for blockage and all outlet pipes. Check the pressure switch hose for any holes as it may have rubbed on the drum and created a small hole in it. Make sure flow meter is level and not at any angle.

Keep getting error f20

Press the Pause/Cancel button twice to clear the display and cancel the cycle. Unplug the machine and remove the fill hoses from the water inlet valves. Check the inlet screens for clogging and clean it. Make sure that the water supply valves are open and water is present. Check the drain hose for siphoning.

Press and hold the Start button to start a new wash cycle. If the error code flashes again, verify if there is water present inside the tub. Check the water inlet valve if no water is present. Check the pressure switch if water is present.

Washing machine turns off and it shows f20 on display

HI. this code represents a Long Drain issue.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and F20 is flashed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F20 error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
• Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
• Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects(located, and mounted on the actual pump. (You will need to remove the front lower panel to access the pump and filter)
• If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump.
