    NO internet

    Able to ping to modem

  • Anonymous Oct 24, 2008

I have the same problem... whenever I turn on my computer though, running the EZSetup Wizard helps me for that session. Halfway through the setup, I get an error message and cant continue, but I'm magically connected to the internet. Once I shut off my computer again, bye bye internet connection. Wireless connection to the router itself is no problem. Wired connection to the router still gives me no internet (until I go through the EZSetup). Odd.

I just reformatted my Windows XP. Even though I plugged my internet cable into my router, I still get no internet access. After going to the control panel to set up networks, and completed all the wizards, it still didn't work. I tried changing the settings, trying all the options, but it still didn't work. My computer doesn't even show the two computers with a globe or X on it! Just a plain audio speakers, and a shield for security, as well as the time. Anyone find a solution about all this?

I have a belkin 54g router & my Dell laptop (running Vista) connects to the router but the router will not connect to the internet, if i plug the laptop directly into the modem the internet works fine though. Why won't the router connect to the internet?

  • Dmortensen2 May 16, 2009

I have also run into this problem in the past wee. The cable connection works perfectly well when directly plugged into my PC, but when I try to plug it in through the Linksys wireless-G Broadband Router (and from there to the PC), I lose all internet connectivity and can't seem to restore it.

I seem to have found a lot of people on here claiming the same problem, but no solutions.. Is this fixable?

You could try to manually set your IP address in the TCP/IP, the gateway and your ISP DNS

You need to properly configure the wireless settings of your computer. Make sure to disable the firewall on your computer like windows firewall or any other firewall. Now make sure that you have entered the correct wireless security key on your wireless settings. Go to control panel > network connections > right click wireless network connections > properties. Go to Wireless Networks tab and remove all the Preferred Networks there. Go to Add and proceed to adding manually your wireless settings.

Internet pppoe

Check with your ISP to ensure you have the correct PPPoE details. If your router has a built-in "ping" feature, try to ping a website and see if that works.

Check on your computer to see what IP address it has, and if it's been "assigned by DHCP" or not - if it has, then it should communicate with your router. If not, then there's an issue with your PC and router communicating together.

Let me know how you get on, and I'll help further.

Solved Problem on Limited Or No Connectivity error message

Solving Limited Or No Connectivity error message

On setting up or make network connections on a Windows computer, you may encounter a Limited Or No Connectivity error message similar to the following:
Limited or no connectivity: The connection has limited or no connectivity. You might be unable to access the Internet or some network resources.
This message can result from any of several different technical glitches or configuration problems. Follow these steps to resolve Limited Or No Connectivity errors in Windows.
Here's How:
Determine whether your network access is functioning properly (that you can reach local network resources and the Internet). If you are using a broadband Internet and Windows XP Service Pack 2, this message is often a false error report. If your network access is non-functional. continue to the following steps.
If your computer connects to the network through a broadband router , resetting (powering off and on) the router may resolve the issue. If not using a broadband router, or if resetting your router only temporarily resolves the issue and the error message re-appears later, continue to the following steps.
If connecting to your network using Wi-Fi and using wireless security, your WEP or other security key may not be set properly. Check the wireless security configuration on your computer's network adapter and update if it necessary.
If connecting to your network using an Ethernet cable, your cable may have failed. Temporarily replace your network cable with a new one to determine whether this resolves the issue.
If using a broadband router and DHCP on your network, check your computer's IP address to verify it is valid and not a private address that starts with 169.254. An invalid address of the form 169.254.x.x signifies your computer's inability to obtain a usable IP address from your router.
To resolve DHCP configuration problems, proceed to the following steps.
Reboot your computer, router (if present) and broadband modem together, then re-test your connection.
If your connection remains non-functional, run the Windows Network Repair utility on your computer.
If your connection remains non-functional, update your router settings to change from dynamic to static IP address configuration, and set an IP address on the computer appropriately.
If your connection remains non-functional, unplug your router and connect the computer directly to your broadband modem. If this configuration is functional, contact the manufacturer of your router for additional support.
If your computer is connecting to your network directly through a broadband modem, or if your Internet access remains non-functional after following the instructions above, contact your Internet provider for support.

Safari can not open the page because the address is invalid

This problem is either the unit is losing connectivity to the internet or the web address is being typed wrong. Losing connectivity could be caused by a number of issues, including viruses (yes, an Ipod CAN get a virus as can anything that connects to the internet).

If you are sure your internet connection is good becuase you can go to other websites, try plugging the Ipod into a computer with ITunes and doing a system update. That should resolve any issues.

My wireless is not connecting to my computer its saying UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK ACCESS LIMITED CONNECTIVITY

You may be connected to the router, but the router may not be properly connected to the internet. You could try unplugging the router's power for 15 seconds, then plugging power back in. Also, try making sure all the cables in the back of the router are plugged in properly. The last thing you could try is restarting your actual modem. This is the device that actually connects to the internet, and it sounds like you're having internet connectivity issues. So the problem may be there.

My router is not detecting an internet connection when hooked up to my cable modem. However, when my modem is hooked directly to the computer there is an internet connection

Try power cycling the router.
Disconnect the router from all computers and devices.
Power off the router. Power on the router. Reconnect the router to all computers and devices. Check the Internet connectivity.

Lost connectivity after power outage

If this is a printer WITHOUT WiFi or bluetooth - and you have it connected to another computer (Print Server) via a USB cable - you need to make sure you can see that computer from the other computer you are printing from. Use the network explorer - if you can see the computer and the printer you should be able to print to it.

Sometimes, it may be secured with a password. I found if I can map a shared drive from my laptop to my print server then I can print again. So see if you can see the printer and printer server computer from the other computer. If so you may need to add that printer again to you printer list.

NIC Connection question, Manual in XP, Automatic in Linux

Its depend on your LAN Card Configuration, something it obtain or directly detect your internet connection but sometimes its not. That is why to make sure that you can connect you manually put IP Address on it. Uncheck the limited or no connectivity on the Lan Setting to make that when you are using Obtain IP Address then it shows and detect your Router or Hub with internet provider.

Cable connectivity

hi pat seems your router is not configure yet for internet connection, for cable connection you must log into the setup page of the router and clone the mac address of your computer.

to do that you can call 1-877-453-5465
to have someone walk you trough the steps.

flashing lights simply means activity on your network, and you get activity when you have internet connection.

hope that helps pat.
