Problem With My Verbatim Harddrive

When I Plug My Verbatim External Hard Drive Into My Laptop, the Icon doesn't show up and i am not able to access the files inside. Although it does come up[ a few times after i plug and replug it in like 10 times.

Is it USB powered or does it have it's own power source?
