Question about Mitsubishi VS-60621 60" Rear Projection Television

I replaced all 3 convergence chips, check every

I replaced all 3 convergence chips, checked every resistor on the board, and the TV still won't power up, what else could I check? This was after it died briefly showing 3 thin color lines, straight with a sawtooth peak in the center, then went black. Several people recommended I change those chips, all solder joints look good, all resistors, caps, diodes, transistors show no signs of heat. The board number is 935C747 with 20 048 (or last digit could be a B) stamped and 012 with mark through 0 and 1234567890 with mark through 7.

There were 3 thin horizontal lines, one for each color, spaced a few inches apart, each with the same sawtooth peak in the center, like single pulse as seen on an oscilloscope waveform. That held for about 30 seconds, then the picture went black. On what board would I find the parts you've listed, not on the convergence board, I presume? Also, I have no way to test an IC, but I can check caps & resistors for value and an open circuit... Thanks!

Some sets will shut down if they have a Defective vertical IC,you have 3 tubes so that explains the 3 color lines Vertical failure Also your FBT flyback transfomer can cause vertical to collaspe and then shut down you need to CK your hori out put Transistor see if it is shorted, Thinking you have Bad FBT! Call Mats Electronics for a catolog for Parts 1-800-628-1118 CK on price of hori out put and FBT.

Sounds like you lost power to the vertical deflection IC. Power is developed off the flyback transformer. There is most likely a fuse resistor, a diode and a capacitor off one of the pins of the flyback. The cap probably failed and took out the fuse resistor and/or diode. Locate these and it will probably fix your problem. Good luck.

Toshiba tp50g90 projection tv, red flashing light won't turn on

FYI: WHOEVER told you 110 chips can be replaced with 120 chips is wrong.

Easy way at this point to way at this point to see if chips are the problem is to UNSOLDER AND REMOVE BOTH CHIPS. Make sure not shorted connections and power set up---set will function without the chips but look terrible.

Try Suburban Electronics for the correct chips----only safe replacement for them is the 150 chip----stk-392-110 and stk-392-120 are not interchangeable.

The blinking light indicates a short.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS AS I HAVE FIXED hundreds OF THESE SETS.

Hi Eric,

First of all, thank you for contacting Fixya.com regarding on your TV problem.

I've suspected a convergence chips failure not the power supply board issue in this kind of symptoms. To confirm it, locate the convergence board inside the set, it has a Sanyo convergence chip STK392-110 that are mounted on the large heat sink. This board has a LED (light emitting diode) that will light up once the board gone to malfunction. Turn on the unit and then check if the LED will lit after the shuts down. If yes, then I would advice you to replaced both convergence Chips and check the resistance of the resistors in line with the +25V and -20V supply of the chips.
Let me know if the LED at the convergence board does not lit to continue our diagnosis... Check also the LED at the power supply board and on the deflection board(this is where the flyback transformer is located)

Have a nice day!

Goodluck and take care!

Kind Regards,

there are fuses on each driver (6 in all) under the heatsinks usually.. make sure these are good. there are also 2 5amp fuses on the g board that supply power to the chips + and - 24volts.. check both of these.. i've seen some check good in circuit and still are bad, check voltage to see for sure. In a rare case, i knocked off a small surface mount resistor when unsoldering the chip, and then the convergence was muted.. make sure no small surface mount parts were moved on the bottom of the board when you soldered. good luck, let me know wif you need futher assistance.

Tv has double pictue and yellow and green color

Double picture is due to convergence out chips failure in tv, replace convergence out chips (quantity 02) to fix the problem.
Let me know if you want to replace these chips by yourself, please note that it requires soldering work in circuit board of tv with proper tools.
Thanks.

Cannot adjust horizontal blue convergence on WS 55857

You still have bad grounds on the ICs. Or maybe the solder has fused another pin. If not bad grounds on the ICs you have missed them elsewhere...Really concentrate and look for these bad grounds and check your caps with a cap check. And power resistors too!!!!!

Convergence issue, replaced convergence chips, now blinking red power light and no picture

Recheck all of your solder connections for bridging and cold solder joints. Check the large output resistors under the heat sink and the smaller ones to the left of them. Check all of the fuses on the power board. And make sure that you check all of your connectors carefully. Also check that you didn't pinch a wire somewhere.
I am not being mean by saying that if you could power up before then more than likely the power up issue was caused by something you did.

I have a convergence problem. My Sony KP-65WS510 has a picture that looks like 3-D and bows at the bottom and top of the screen. I already replaced both the IC's STK 392-560 (2 qty.) and check all six 3.5a...

You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

>>>Solution<<<<

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors.

Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.

Convergence problem then no power up after replacement

Check to ne absolutely certain that all the wires are plugged back in correctly, also if the wires are correct check the resistors near the convergence ICs one or two of them are likely open as well.

Convergence board revisited

No leave the jumpers in and yes replace the chips as that's why the fuse blew so it would not take out the power supply when they shorted. I hope you did get the right IC's, the ones that say Sanyo on them. If you did not, these replacement IC's you purchased are the factory rejects and may work for a short time, but not for long. Also do not forget to apply an ample amount of heat sink compound on the backs of the new IC's before you install them. Good Luck
