Question about Lexmark X6170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

6 Answers

Lexmark X6170 stops printing at 99%, page comes out okay but other print jobs get backed up behind this. I open the menu and cancel the first one but it won't cancel. I have to reboot, which clears the print requests, then re do which again, stops at 99%. Help...... I don't have time to waste.

I have the same problem - specifically where the printer is attached to a print server (D-Link - DP-301u). Before I installed the print server - everything worked fine.

    Any help is appreciated,
    Jon

I *had* the same problem when I connected my x6170 to a Synology NAS with USB print manager. JSR18's solution to change the print processor in printer properties worked! Thanks.

Printer will work first print job round, but the "print completion" bar stops at 99% and the other jobs get stuck behind the first one (even though it already printed and technically should be complete).

I found the following post on AsusForum.NET that solved the problem for me - hope it helps -

"As I had printing problems with my Lexmark X6170, which I bought at the time because it looked a good deal, I started to work on a solution.

I think this problem is also applicable for a number of other printers. The symptom is that the spooler in windows displays a progress for 99%. If you want to delete the job from the queue, you could end up restarting the print spooler.

The solution is rather simple (it took me a while to find out though).

If you go to the properties for your printer and click on the tab <advanced> and on the button <print processor>, just select the [winprint] processor instead of the manufacturer processor (in my case lexmark...). In the right pane select one of the [NT EMF...] processors and this should do the trick.
ALSO disable the bidirectional support on the <ports> tab...

As I thought the problem lies in the signal which has to be send back from the printer to the processor that the job has finished. As there is now way for the printer to send back the signal over the same printing port (RAW/9100), the spooler still thinks the job hasn't finished.
I searched the technet site and found some notes where a similar problem is described. In the case a problem like this occurs (apparently only with printers which use their own software and need bidirectional support...) they (the dark side) advises to use a Microsoft driver instead...

Hope I could help somebody with a frustrating problem.
(ps. printer works fine, the lexmark software not.)"

This didn't work for me, it helped but still was't finishing large documents. I disabled AVG after reading something from another site and it worked perfectly, hope this helps someone else.

I had this same problem with our Lexmark P4350. I went to the Lexmark website and stated the problem in the chat window. A tech sent me a patch for my computer, which after I downloaded it and the restarted my computer, seems to have fixed the problem.

Hope this helps.

Why is the light flashing on the right side

If the light flashing is the "light bulb like button" or the "Ready/Light" button, it means that either the printer is:

• The printer is busy receiving and processing data or printing.
• The printer is printing a directory, font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages.

If it's Busy:
• Wait for the message to clear.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel the print job.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.

If it's printing a directory, a font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages:
• Wait for the pages to print. The Busy message is displayed as the pages print. The Ready light is on when the
printing stops.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel printing.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.

It could be a printer driver issue. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem.

Prints one or to pages then stops. Have to reset computer to get it to work. No test doesn't work. It is like it runs out of memory.

Try to run a test for continuous print test page in diagnostics mode. To enter the Diagnostics mode:
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Open the front access door.
3. Turn on the printer while pressing and holding Cancel .
4. Close the front access door once the Error light displays. Print the menu page by pressing and holding Continue until all of the lights flash. Follow the instructions on
the menu page to access the menu items.

Continuously print pages containing cross lines, printer information, and margin settings. Press and hold until the Continue button lights flash to begin. Press Cancel to stop.

Make sure he selects the "Cont Prt Simplex Tray 1" option

Lexmark x6170 stopped printing text will only pint images

First, print a test page from the printer's menu and see if the black lines and text look okay on that. If there is no or poor black printing, you need to replace the black cartridges or try cleaning the cartridge's nozzle with rubbing alcohol. If that looks fine you need to check the printer's settings in its properties on the system lift of printers.

Lexmark X6170 will only copy l/4 of page as a copier but copies full pages from the computer

check the properties and page settings before you print you may find your page settings are incorrect to what you want. Set to all pages, make sure print colour documents black is unckecked, make sure no other settings are telling it to print other than what you want. Post back if no good.

X5150 and Vista print issue

I am posting this in hopes of helping others that are having issues with the Vista print spooler. In my case, I have an HP Pavilion laptop running Vista connected to a wireless hub. I also have a Minolta Konica 2300DL printer that is connected to the network via the wireless hub as well. Ever since obtaining this laptop, I have not been able to print to the printer other than stopping and starting the print spooler to obtain a single print 'job'. After about six months I found a post that contains the fix - I cannot take credit for it! Follow these instructions to get your printer to work:

1.) Go into control panel - I would suggest classic view as it is a little easier to navigate.

2.) Then go into User Accounts.

3.) From User Accounts go into Turn User Account Control On or Off

4.) UNCHECK Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.

5.) At this point you will probably require a reboot.

Once this exercise is complete, you should be able to print. One more item off of my Honey DOO list!!!!!

Lexmark 1650 Optra S printer will not cancel print jobs, HELP!

http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/knowledgebase.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:169:0:0

This is the primary page for troubleshooting this printer.

In regard to general issues regarding cancellation of print jobs, this is most often due to driver issues, or handling within the operating system. Please refer to http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/knowledgebase.cgi
regarding general instructions to stop/restart print spool & print jobs.

If you are using the printer on a network, often the settings for the printer on the network will cause this issue, and the cancellation abailability to owners or users needs to be adjusted within the network / server system. If it is a standalone setup, the solution depends on the OS; however, generally you should be able to open the printer control (e.g., Control Panel > Printers > Lexmark 1650...) and delete the job listed in the queue.

You may also initiate an online chat with a Lexmark support tech at http://support.lexmark.com/static/229-1-0-71.html.

If you require additional assistance, please post back with further information; otherwise, thanks for rating FixYa!

X6170 Prints only one page then freezes

drivers are most likely not up to date, especially if you used the old ones. Gotta go to lexmark, and get the latest Vista friendly driver. I recommend the highest quality one, with the most features(so that Vista won't spit it out again).

Stops at 99% and trys to delete file - no other jobs will print

This is based on your operating system and should work for all versions of XP, I have not tested it on Vista.

Start, Run, type "services.msc"
Find "print spooler"
Click the stop/start icon (square with triangle at the top of the screen shot below)
Try to highlight your print job and clear it.
If it will not, power down your printer, power it back on (physical power) and try again.
