Have a 2005 a1250n Hp computer with Hp ver XP SP3 OS installed. MOBO failed. Can it be replaced by same p/n 5188 1936 using current all ready loaded XP OS. Will GUID be a problem?

If you can get the exact mobo you may replace it. No driver issue will raise. You can also buy a new mobo with same chipset and replace it. Same chipset mobo will require to install Sound, ethernet and vga drivers

Audio via chipset driver

Hi,
If your MOBO is using Realtek audio chip(which you didn't mentioned,i'm guessing!) you should be able to download it from the Realtek website if it is not included on the mobo CD. It should be on the CD, browse it carefully.
The other possibility is that the chip has failed, a rarity, but possible. Does it show up in device manager?
Hope this Helped!

I have a new mobo and I have only one IDE connection and I have about seven SATA connections. I have two IDE harddrives and two IDE CD/DVD-RW drives which are using the IDE connection on the MOBO. I...

If you are doing this in windows xp, you will need to install the scsi drivers that are for your chipset (the motherboards traffic control basically) These are on the cd that came with your mobo. Another thing you can try is to set the bios to ide emulation mode (probably called safe mode/compatibility mode) for the sata channels.

Hope this helps

The usb ports and the pci slots do not work

Yes, this can still be fix, try first to run the setup CD for your ECS motherboard to reinstall the driver for those devices...if still not fix you may need to download the latest driver for your motherboard from ECS web site and update the driver for those devices..

Windows not loading

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Whenever Microsoft Windows XP is installed on a system, the OS is binded to the motherboard, specifically to the chipsets. I am assuming that when you replaced the motherboard, the OS was not reinstalled and it was still binded to the original Dell Dimension board, most likely an Intel 925X Express chipset. When the OS started to load, it could not find the original 925X chipset and instead finds itself confronted with Biostar VIA P4M900/VT8237A chipsets which is an unknown, hence the BSOD.

You could try:
  • boot from CD drive with an XP installer and use the second repair option;
  • boot into Safe Mode (F8) and try to uninstall the Intel devices entries (except the CPU) and allow the system to auto detect (if it will) the new hardware;
  • backup your files and perform a fresh/clean install on the new motherboard.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, mobo driver

Hi,

You can find all the drivers you need from HP's Download page for the DX6120 Micro Tower. I would guess the drivers you need are the chipset drivers, which can be found on the following pages (There are links to all the available drivers for that model #)

Windows XP Home

Windows XP Pro

Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit

Windows Vista Business 32bit

Please note that Vista pages do not have chipset drivers, as Vista should be able to install them on it's own.

you need to install all drivers for the MOBO for devices to work, if it still doesnt work after installing drivers, get the latest version drivers from the manafacturers website..
