Question about Canon PowerShot SD400 / IXUS 50 Digital Camera

Open Question

Canon a720 LCD doesn"t turn on after getting wet.

My Canon a720 got a little wet. So i dried it off quickly and tried it and it was okay. An hour later i went to use it and the LCD wouldn't turn on. It takes pics without it using the view finder and even the zoom still works, but i want the LCD back on. Also need the LCD for settings, viewing, etc. This happened quite a few months ago so it can't still be wet.
Any ideas?????

SOURCE: Canon S3 no display on LCD screen

for the person whose screen is blank but the photos work- I had the same problem and solved it by replacing the smaller date/time battery which slides out of the larger battery copartment. The battery is a CR1220 smaller than a dime and even flatter. Hope this works for you.

Okay, this is simple. Your camera can take several pictures at one time in a burst. However when you release the shutter button your processor takes a second to actually SAVE the pictures to the card in the camera. One thing than has helped me in my wedding photography business is to buy the fastest speed cards I can find. It significantly reduced my "busy" time.

SOURCE: Image blacked out on LCD and can not see image in view finder

Try this, it may or may not work. Insert the Video cable plug in and out of its slot a few times. The cable when inserted turns the screen off. But sometimes corrosion can build up on the internal plug switch, also causing the screen to turn off. Inserting and removing the cable a few times can sometimes knowck off this corrosion.

SOURCE: Zoom pictures lower than what see in viewfinder

That's's called parallax error because the view finder is not in the same plane as the lens. Why don't you use the LCD screen to compose your shots?

Stupidly but accidentally left my Canon PowerShot SD800IS outside on table and it rained!!! I can't see anything through the screen! Stick seems OK. Battery is functioning. What can be done. Thanks.

Well you can try not to turn it on and let it dry out in a DRY room

But if you turn it on after it was still wet or it was not fully dried ...Then

you have to bring it to a camera repair shop I would call around but

make sure that you do not tell them it was wet because it they may tell you that

there is more problems then just the LCD screen.... So if the board is wet and

there was power turn on there will be clear signs of the residue left from the rain...

You can also call Canon to see if they no of any Camera Shops in your area that will Repair

it or Maybe give you a trade in credit towards a used or new camera,

Thank You

Zte warp got wet

When this happens, immediately remove the battery. Let the phone dry (it may take several hours) before you put the battery back in and try to turn it on. If it is only water, and you act quickly enough, your phone may be okay.

My less than 2 year ollld A720 does not have any image showing on the LCD display

Check whether your LCD is bad. To do this, shoot a picture and then download to PC. If the picture is ok, then LCD is bad. You need to replace it.

I have a canon powershot A470 and it fell in water. after i removed the card and batteries of which still worked and neither were wet, i let the camera dry for a couple of days. it has turned on since and...

It's really hard to get water out of a camera. You can allow it to dry out but still have water inside... and the longer it's in there, the more chance it's going to cause metal parts to corrode and rust.
If you don't want to open this camera up and do some work to dry it out (this is tricky and you run the risk of damaging something as you open/close the camera.
Another last ditch method is to remove the batts, and card, leave the compartments open, and then put it in a sealable plastic bag along with an open pint container of silica gel (you know, that stuff they put in the box with new cameras etc. to absorb moisture). You can purchase silica gel in quantity at a hobby shop and it's actually reusable if you follow directions.
Leave the camera and the container of sil.gel. in the bag for several days-at this point you're just hoping to save a camera that's most likely not going to be saved.
Other than that, you could send it in, but to be honest, used electronics such as cameras are more expensive to fix than they are to replace.
The newer powershots have better resolution, and more features so if you love this camera, I think you will be blown away with the newer ones with more features... and the prices are fairly reasonable too.
Hope this helps you make the call...

Ihave an A70; it went dead. it is not the battries, lithium battery and memory chip is fine. Comletely died on me. Thanks

I did not receive a fix ya solution; somebody sent me a post that included links for new cameras. I was put off by this smart *** type of response.

I ended up finding my bill for the camera and it still had warranty; I took it to Staples where I bought it and they gave me a 50% depreciated value for the camera. I will never by another Cannon camera and I will never shop at staples again, bad experiences with both.
