Question about RCA Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

RCA ''professional series'' STAV 4090 Audio Video receiver. The receiver recently started displaying a generic ''amplifier error'' message on the LCD when attempting to play music on it through the AUX input (the only input we've used); when this happens it stops working. I don't know what is wrong with it.

Rca receiver overload message

Power the unit off , Disconnect all the speakers ,power the unit back on and check to see if you get the same message, if so one or all of your speakers could be bad. This message appears when there is too much load on the output IC's,generally causes shutdown. Also try blowing the system out with canned air, And removing anything that prevents the unit from getting enough ventilation.

''Power off ''flashes ten times after the receiver is turned on.

Most often it will require an output IC, but I have seen it be a bad ground or a transistor in the protect circuit.
