Question about Sony KV-36XBR400 36" TV
This started about a year ago. When it got hot it turned off. I set a fan next to it to blow air inside. This worked until recently when it started shutting down again even with the fan on. If turn it back on it will shut down after about a minute. If you keep turning it back on it will shorten to a couple seconds before it shuts down.

Sounds like you've got a problem alright, It's definitely heat related. I would suggest unplugging it and having it looked at by a professional.
I am an electronics tech and can tell you that you should not try to fix it yourself. There are voltages inside that tv that can literally throw you across a room and kill you instantly,
Also, I advise leaving it unplugged until it is looked at, A short can cause a fire.
