When wsher is initially filling with water

I have a Kenmore 60 series and when my washer is filling for the first time it does not stop and it will keep going and overflow unless you are standing there watching it. Can someone please tell me what the heck the problem is?

The water level is controlled by the pressure switch which is located behind the load level selector knob on the control panel. Before assuming you have a defective pressure switch, however, read the following link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r762094-washer_overflows

In many cases the small air hose comes loose from the pressure switch and causes the symptoms you are experiencing. Check the air hose to ensure it is still attached to the pressure switch and check the electrical connections to ensure they are not corroded. If these preliminary measures do not work, replace the pressure switch. A replacement can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com

If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Try eserviceinfo.com/index as per your 80 series. There are various downloads there that may help access the water level sensor which is most likely the problem.

Kenmore serie 80.does not stop filling water in and does not star

Yeah I've seen that happen a many of times. Take the back of the control panel off and where your load size selector is you'll find a little hose that's suppoed to be attached to the side of it. just reattach it and you'll be back up and running.

Almost all washing machines use a pressure tube that tells the washer when to stop filling with water. If the tube comes off for some reason the washer will never stop filling and that's an instant flood if you don't notice it quick enough. Also a hole or puncture of any kind can be causing ti to never stop filling as well.

Hope this helps

Kenmore washer won't stop filling w/ water

The problem is most likely the water level switch. This would be the case if the water is able to be turned off with the dial on the washer and not running all the time.

If it is running all the time and you have to turn it off at the water line valve, then the problem is a stuck water fill valve.

If you need more help, post a comment.

You can find information on the parts at partselect.com.

You can buy parts from them or find them locally if you want.

Thanks,

Tim

Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!
