Question about Dewalt d55151 factory reconditioned emglo heavy - duty 2.5hp 4 gallon Electric hand carry compressor
I Have several Emglo 2 h.p. air compressors they draw about 14 amps. when they start up. A little bit more when they are cold. You need to make sure they are plugged directley into a outlet by itself. you can run other tools on the same circuit if its a 20 amp circuit. Hope this helps

It could be a couple of things. To me it sounds like you have a short in the motor or damage to the cylinder and piston. You need special equipment in order to test the armature and field for a short. There may also be damage to the brushes and brush holder. There could also be a problem with the cylinder and piston. The bearing could be bad causing a hard start for the motor. I think it could be the combination of the two problems listed above. You may want to check the pump first and if that is not the problem it is an electrical short in your motor in which case you should buy a new compressor. It will cost more to fix if the motor is damage than to buy a new one. "BER" Beyond Economical Repair.
