SOURCE: Remington R-1000 battery replacement

I guess by now you have either thrown out the shaver or found out how to take the cover off.
The secret is to remove the bottom cover plate (Cap) as described in the manual. There is a small slot at the back of the charging cord recess (see photo) that allows you to pop it off with a small, flat blade screwdriver. There are 2 screws under the cap, and 2 more at the top under the trimmer assembly, which is removed as described in the manual (the manual states there are only 3 screws holding the cover).
The batteries are AA NiMH, 1800 mAh capacity, which I hope to get at The Source (used to be Radio Shack in Canada).
When removing the batteries, make sure to carefully pry off the heat sensor which is attached to one battery with a dab of silicone (and which must be reattached later).
I have attached a few photos to show the slot in the cap, and the battery wire colours when you are reconnecting new batteries.

SOURCE: Remington es1000

The Remington ES-1000 was probably the best slot-head shaver ever made by Remington. I cannot believe that the market demand was so low as to prompt a cancellation of production. I believe that the production run was limited to about 4 years or so. I have 8 of these shavers and keep a couple old Remington slot heads around as well. The ES-1000 was not perfect. The batteries were way too small and stressed so battery life was poor. You could not buy individual blades as you could with past Remington slot-head units. Also, the edge of the head was too exposed and sharp and when used for body shaving would tend to cut the skin.Slot-head shavers are superior for body shaving and for skin that is suseptible to shaving bumps. They are also great for young men that are prone to ingrown hairs. My guess is that the Norelco 3 head has taken it's place. Those shavers actually use 3 small slot heads. Rumor has it that is trying to have a new slot head manufactured in Asia.

R9370 won't work

Any corrosion on the rechargeable batteries usually means that they've gone bad.
For an relatively easy to fix test, disconnect one end of one of the cells wherever it's easiest to solder back together. Then plug in the shaver and see if it works. The LCD may not work, but the shaver itself might.
Looking it up further, I see that it uses a 12VDC cord/charger. So if you try my suggestion, the LCD and shaver should work when plugged in, if the batteries are the problem.

Te battery will not hold a charge.

Batteries in your shaver model were not designed for replacement. Disassembling the shaver will result in damage to the case as it is glued together. has a simple and inexpensive solution of replacing the 'lower unit'. See link below

I haven't used my shaver for more than a year and now it refuses to charge. Nothing happens when I plug it in.

Batteries are probably dead and need replaced. You will find the correct battery type at See link below. You will need to order two batteries

To replace, you will need to remove the back cover. To do so, remove the three screws on the back. One is easily visable. Slide trimmer up to see second screw. The third screw is need to pry out the trimmer at the top where it flips out from the shaver body to get to it.
Once removed, you will be able to access the batteries. They are soldered to wirdes. Unsolder the old ones and solder in the new ones

If you are unable to do this yourself, can do it for you. See link below
