Does this apply to a Whirlpool Frig? I indicated the wrong frig when I posted my problem. The Fridge is a Whirlpool 25.6 side by side.

Thank you. I was wondering where the "water pump" is located.

The " water pump " red is refering to , is the dual water inlet valve behind the refrg , what the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

The water pump is burned out.
the power surge most definitely caused this.
locate the water pump and with a multi meter test for power.Replace.

No ice Ice maker does not fill up with water

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then check the fill tube going to the ice maker , to see if it is frozen up inside . If it is , replace the water valve behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to on the refrig . If the ice maker dumps the cubes , but does not refill with water , then the water valve is bad . If the ice maker does not dump the cubes , then replace the ice maker .

Ice maker will not make ice. no ice is being made. no water appears to be in ice cube making area. can hear a ticking noise from icemaker area

Carefully pour water from small glass into ice maker, until the cavity is near filled. Wait a few hours. If it dumps ice, you can usually rule out the ice maker.
If ice maker dumps, then it will be either a bad water valve, Ice building up in fill pipe going into the icemaker, or blocked water line that runs from your water source to the machine.
Caution. If the fill tube going into the ice maker is filled with ice do NOT
use heat such as a hair dryer to melt it. It will melt things you do not want to melt. If it is this problem, you must also replace the water valve because it is leaking slowly causing your problem.
Lastly, in rare cases, the microswitch in the ice maker fails and does not allow water to enter the icemaker.

Ice maker will not make ice

Make sure the ice maker is turned on ( green light ?) . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into ice maker . If it freezes and dumps the cubes , but doesn't fill with water , replace the dual water inlet valve ( one coil for water dispensor , the other is for the ice maker ) . If it does not dump the frozen cubes , then replace the ice maker .

Ice maker doesn't work

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps the cubes , but doesn't fill with water , replace the water inlet valve ( the piece that the wall water line connects to on the fridge ) . Also check to be sure that the fill tube from the back of the freezer to the ice maker , isn't blocked with ice , as this is caused by a seeping bad water valve . If the ice maker doesn't dump the cubes , after freezing , then replace the ice maker . Also check to make sure the coils under the front of the refrig , are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc.

Ice maker not working

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . Also , check the black fill hose that fill the ice maker , to make sure it is not frozen . If the ice maker dumps the cubes , then replace the water inlet valve . If the ice maker holds the ice , and does not dump , replace the ice maker . When you open the freezer door , the laser light , should blink twice , then pause ,repeatedly . If you close the flap on the left side , the laser should go off . These are indication that the optics are good . If you open the door , and no laser light , then that means that the ice maker is in the harvest (dump) mode . If it stays this way , ice maker is bad .

check and make sure there is no water or ice in the ice-maker mold ,if not pour 5 oz. of water into it , if the ice-maker dumps the ice out in under 2 hours then you have a problem with your water valve , you can also check and make sure the inlet fill tube entering the the mold isn't iced up
