Question about Acer Aspire 5520-5908 Notebook
Try to check the memory card reseat or clean it ( the edge connector with gel eraser), do this when battery is out and its AC power plug.
Did it undergoes some maintenance check in two years. Maybe you should, dirt, dust build up maybe the cause, and some contact is building a thin film of insulation commonly on copper coated connector.
Sometimes some add in device is out/faulty causing erratic behavior. Other thing is the hard drive and ODD devices. Reseat ODD and hard drive.
And oh, check your battery, one usual suspect of that.

These laptops are legendary known about these errors. Rumor says it is
caused by loose CMOS batteries. Try to push the case of the laptop in
the middle of the keyboard when turning on with medium force. It is
even better to push where the CMOS battery is installed. Just Google
for some motherboard pictures to find its location (its perhaps
somewhat left or right next to the power on switch).
If this solves the problem you should find a way to permanently prevent your CMOS battery from getting loose.

I have thesame problem with my acer 5520g, when i press power buttonthe fan will be on for 5 seconds only and the light will start to blink every foe second, i canot turn it off only by removing the powed cord and battery, i was able to make myu laptop run for 1 month by twisting my laptop, holding one hand in the other side twisting opposite to each other but its only work for one month and its suddenly go back to the same probnlem, i tried to puss down in the middle ( keyboard) a little bit hard and it only working for 1 week only, third times i disassemble all the pieces, only the motherboard, cou, video card and ram remaining and i tried to push any part posibnle and it work for 1 minute, i have brand new batery and it fully charged, i charged it from my frend laptop (samebrand and model). now what ever i do i canot make my laptop run for even a minute, my opinion are, there some parts is loosing, cmos bar\try was ok, i test it with a tester or some spot need to be re spot by solder, but i think procesor and video card is ok because i made it run 3 times, mainly is the motherboard, its a loose connection, it has no waranty anymore, two of my friend with thesame laptop and brand and model was also now a victim of these thesame priblem and too many of us are now suffering with these kind of problem with these acer brand specialy 5520g model...
