My keyboard is sticking (I have to type certain letters multiple times). It's very frustrating and at times it seems to work fine, then at other times it doesn't work well at all. It isn't certain keys either...it happens randomly.

Sony Vaio keyboard repeating letters

Keyboards to wear out, but are not expensive to replace. Multiple key strikes and sticking can be caused by spilling "stuff" into the keyboard, even crumbs will do it.

When I type a letter it sticks and keep typing the same letter.

Keyboards sit out exposed to all kinds of debris. Dust, ashes and so on can settle into the area around the keys and cause problems. Turning the keyboard upside down and patting it on the backside might help. You'll be amazed at what comes out. A can of compressed air might also do the trick but again, upside down.
Keyboards are cheap and they really aren't worth fixing. But if it becomes too frustrating, and it's not a wireless keyboard, you might try putting it in the dishwasher upside down. This is a last resort when you've given up and are ready to buy a new keyboard. And I'd only do this if someone spilled something on it.
If it doesn't work now, this won't make it work any less. Well, actually, it could. LOL
Good luck.

When typing on keys it put multiple letters

The keys are sticking. Has something been spilled on it? Try these things:

Compressed air under the keys.

A blunt thin knife to jiggle keys slightly, be careful.

A damp cloth.

Keyboard typing multiple letters/ numbers when pressing certain keys.

Keyboards on Windows computers can repeat letters when key press sensitivity is too high. This problem can be rectified by adjusting your keyboard's repeat frequency. Once this is lowered, key presses will occur slower and you will not have the letters repeated instantly.

Click"Start," then "Control Panel." Click "Hardware and Sound," followed by "Keyboard." Move the "Repeat delay" slider further to the left below the "Character repeat" option. The further left the slider moves, the longer the delay will be before a character repeats.

Hi

Try system restore. Go to START>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE>CHOOSE PREVIOUS RESTORE DATES. Use other restore dates if needed.

Or try this

If your laptop keyboard types wrong characters, it is rather a software issue than an hardware one. This can happen if you accidentally press certain keys on your keyboard, which enable a certain kind of function.
Try the following steps in case your laptop keyboard displays wrong characters:
1.Go to the control panel option
Click ? 'Regional and Language Services' ? 'Languages' ? 'Details' ? 'Key Settings'
2.Select the option 'Switch Between Input Languages' and click on 'Change Key Sequence'
3.Ensure that all the check boxes are unchecked in this window and do the same for 'Switch to...(Keyboard Type)'
4.Click ?
'Ok' ? 'Ok' ? 'Apply' ? 'Ok'.
This should solve your problem

Hard to type. Does not type all of the letters.

Please make sure that the wireless sensor is working properly, and there shud not be any kind of disruption in the signals between laptop and keyboard.

Cannot type certain letters

Hi,

Verify that the key is not working in more than one application. It is possible that some keys may not be used in all programs. This generally always applies to the Function keys F1 through F12. If not all keys are working in all programs and you have Windows, attempt to boot the computer to a MS-DOS prompt or Safe Mode and test the keyboard in DOS.

If it appears that a substance has been spilt into the computer.

If any type of liquid has been spilt within the keyboard you can attempt to clean it . however, because of the dramatic decrease of cost with computer keyboards, it is recommended that you simply replace the keyboard to help prevent frustration and possibility of failure again in the future.

Thanks,
CF

Keyboard & Mouse Problem

Seems like you Ctrl-key is pressed all the time somehow.
Make sure that none of the Ctrl-keys is stuck.
If you try another keyboard, everything should work fine, so just check your keyboard. Maybe you need to replace it.
