Palm pilot not syncing while in cradle

Has synch worked before on this set up?

generate a file from the palm pilot program. I think there is a application within palm pilot specifically for that purpose. Once you have generated the file move it to your blackberry manager program and sync the phone

I read and followed several troubleshooting articles from the Palm OS site, including these:

However, none of those technical articles helped much, except after going through them, my Palm OS desktop started to work after not opening up at all. Still, my Handspring Platinum would not sync with my PC.

What brought success was following these articles:

In 28263 (part 2) it said to reinstall certain drivers (steps 5, etc.). As soon as I did that, everything started to work just fine and has been ever since.

make sure that you have the Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager 4.1.4E it includes Palm Outlook Conduits. The "E" stands for Extended, meaning that this version of Palm Desktop is intended for devices that have the extended PIM applications.

afterward, use the program PocketMirror to sync your outlook and the handspring device.

I've had some problems syncing my Palm with a cradle on occasion.

I found that I had to push my Palm down on it (and sometimes keep applying pressure), then start the sync.

Do you hear a beep when you initially place the Palm on the cradle? This is a successful connection noise if so. If not, then the Palm/Cradle/Computer are not successfully connecting from the get go.

You may want to make sure the connectors are securely connected together and maybe even clean the contact points.

I have a similar problem with my m515. I have 3 palms and 2 sync fine but the 3rd isn't even getting to the computer. There is no recognition from the computer that the palm is trying to sync even though I use the same cradle for all palms. The ensuing message is, "the connection between your handeld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again". My settings are set Local and Cradle/Cable.

I have Treo 600, 650 and old Handspring Visor -- all sync perfectly well using Palm Sync Ver. 4.0.1 software.

Problem is fixed: Not sure how I fixed but I think it was when I shutdown PC and restarted. Then I tried to SYNC again AND then I found WINDOWS saying it found new hardware (the cradle). This time I knew to say I'd tell where the drivers were and I chose the Drivers directory of Handspring directory and the installation proceeded OK this time. (drivers are PALMUSBD.inf and PALMUSBD.sys) I can then SYNC with Outlook 2003

1. make sure Outlook is running on the PC 2. make sure hotsync is running - right click on the hotsync icon in the system tray - click custom - set all the things you "want" to sync and setup the way you want them (i.e. handheld over rides PC, they both sync, etc) 3. have VersaMail configured and setup as well...that's where your Outlook mail will come from 4. Push the hotsync button on your cable/cradle This should get you started. If I missed a step, it should be obvious in the Hotsync log, so check the log after doing a Hotsync.
