Turntable, lights and fan inop

Replaced the bulbs under the unit and when I turned the lights on there was a flash and now the turntable, lights and cooling fan do not work. I checked the fuse and it is good, possibly a relay?

No sir, the microwave still heats, but without the fan will cut itself of when it gets hot. You are right that I do have to check the sockets because they were hard to get out and there could have been some debris in there, but now when I push the light button, the display shows it on, but it isn't. I know that the turntable, lights and fan are on the same circuit, but I am assuming there is no power there or it would short out when I go to turn the lights on again. Thank you for your time.

Mark2424, your solution was dead on. Only difference was my board had 3 traces burnt. Got some solid copper telephone wire and saved $217, which is what a new control board costs. Many thanks!

    Hey mark2424 and Tkcc.

Thanks to both of you. I had the same problem. My Magic Chef, MCO153UBF Microwave had similar problems. The Magnatron, Cooling fan, Turn table and under hood lights were not working at all after hearing a pop sound under the control panel. Thought it was the fuse but the fuse was fine after testing and replacing. I checked the circuit breaker wired to my house and saw it had a break to my kitchen outlets so i flipped the switch to get back the kitchen outlets. Then I checked the microwaves Control Panel ( Printed Circuit Board) underneath and saw to traces were burnt. I soldered the two trace lines and the fixed the problem. Thanks a HUGE bunch.

I'm guessing that nothing is working...is that right? If so, first guess is the breaker or an internal fuse. Nearly all units have them. You don't say what fuse you checked. Unplug the unit, remove the bulb and see what is in the socket. Next, open the breaker and then turn it back on. This will reset it. Something caused this.

I'm still thinking internal fuse or thermo sensor. Fuses sometimes look like rectangles about 3/8 inch on a side and an inch or so long. On the circuit board, they say something like '10A'. The thermosensor is located on the oven wall, is black, the diameter of a dime and 3/8 inch thick with two wires on it. Check all for continuity. All of this is located behind the key panel. If you have a circuit diagram (many are inside the unit) have a look for clues as to what works and what doesn't. Use a tester from the hardware store to check everything...power off!

SOURCE: Turntable, lights and fan inop

sounds like a cross wire, and a short. I'd inspect the socket for the bulbs to ensure that there's no short circuit.

The turntable fan and light all share the same feed, first check wiring for loose connections the problem though is most likely with the controller

Panasonic Microwave NN-S935BF turntable and light do not work. Microwave still works. Bulb and turntable motor okay. No power to light or turntable. Any ideas?

Your description seems to be confusing turntable and light do not work
Bulb and motor OK
No power to light or turntable

Which is it?

They could be separate incidents. The drive motor could be fused and the globe just blew its life away..

Ewave OTR Microwave Oven, Model KOT-153UW. Light

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Turntable will not turn and under unit lighting will not work

Possibilities are:
There is a harness that is no longer connected(possibly loosened when the fuse was replaced)
There are bad relays on the control board
The touch panal is not giving the command to the Control board

Yes the microwave is safe to use, without the turntable working.

Light, turntable and fan don't work

Possibly the light bulb has blown, which has blown on a track on the board which has taken out the turntable motor and the fan. Also, there could be a problem with the door switch.

The turn table and fan are connected in series with the bulb,as you have mentioned that you have replaced bulb,so please check again for any loose contact on bulb holder or bulb continuity again.
