Pixma MP500 Printer

My printer was working just fine while printing a group of certificates.  Then the color changed to purple.....I have replaced all of the ink cartridges, but now it is printing with strips every 1/4" or so....  I'm trying to clean the heads, but can't figure out how to do so....  Help!!!
