The old sim card works fine in other ATT razor phones...I dont get it? Is there something I can clean inside the phone?

  • bear412 Dec 19, 2007

thank you very much for your quick response. I thought maybe it had shorted soemthing out. My only problem is I dont know where to bring it in for repair? I live in the chicago area and the ATT shops tell me to trash the phone and buy a new one. Of course!

I just picked up my phone off the dresser this morning and am unable to use it. The screen says. "Insert SIM card". I haven't gotten it wet, or dropped it, or abused it in any way. What's the deal?

Not sure if this will work with you.. but i got the same problem with my nokia 3100... but i got it fixed when i put a little piece of paper as a filler in between the sim and the battery... that piece of paper should just be thick enough to make the sim card tighten to its place... hope it will help...

Have you tried a different SIM to make sure that isn't the problem? I'd say 3 out of 4 times when the phone gets wet the other stuff works after it dries, but people constantly have problems with reading the SIM afterwards. Hopefully swapping the SIM card out will help, otherwise your only option is to have a repair shop fix it up for you.

The SIM reader is ecspecially susceptible to water damage, because it has exposed pins carrying a charge. When the pins got wet, it shorted out the reader. The only way to fix that is to replace the damaged part.

I once jumped in a pool with my RAZR in my pocket, and swam for 30 minutes before I realized it was there. I took apart the phone and cleaned it out with isopropyl. Once it dried out and I reassembled it, everything worked great, except for the SIM reader.

If you want to try to order that part and replace it yourself, I would be happy to provide you with a guide to take apart the phone. The part will be difficult to find, and it will be difficult to replace if you haven't done these kind of repairs before. After researching the cost of the part and taking into consideration the time involved in the repair, I took it to a repair shop. They only charged me $50 and had it working like new in a couple days.

If you have a phone book handy, there should be a bunch of them in there. You may also try searching for "mobile phone repair Chicago, IL" in Google. Good luck, and I hope you get it working!

Hello, I have a Samsung GT-I5800, I caught my son with it earlier and he had drooled all over it, the inside was all soaking wet and now it wont turn on.. it just keep flashing up the GT-I5800 screen and...

Take out anything that isn't attached to the phone (memory card, sim card, battery, etc). Submerge everything in an uncovered bowl of dry rice. Leave it for at least 24 hours (36 if you can wait). The water damage indicators are located at one end of the battery and on the back of the phone underneath the cover. If they're pink they're toast. Wait for the 24 hours before trying to turn it back on, sometimes people get lucky.

Good luck!

Hi. Immediately take the battery out of the phone. You need to take it apart completely. Down to the keypad. U need to then spray acetone on the entire circuit board.
Then you blow-dry with a hair dryer until it is dried. Put the phone back together. You should have a now working phone
Problem is, you already booted up the phone without these steps. The phone can be damaged already. But its worth a try.

My iphone will not read the sim card. The card works fine in another phone. My phone was submerged in a tub of greasy water and i am tryinng to restore it now.

Ben, Could you try dry it first? Do not turn on.
As you said that your card is not read by iphone, i can see that you already turn it on after it submerged in greasy water. I hope it doesn't short circuit yet. Use hair dryer, dry your iphone through the usb connection hole, leave for awhile, make sure it dry, then try again. Hope this will help. For future, if phone dropped in water, first thing to do is take off battery, or turn of completely then dry it before checking it still work or not. Thanks for reading.

Mobile phone TM 506 Sony Ericsson get wet

You have to leave it to dry in a warm - not hot - environment with everything taken out so the electronics have a chance to dry properly.

You leave it for around 24-48 hours then see if it works, if it doesn't then you need a new phone

Wet cell phone-blank screen

Well it depends on the type of screen you have in the phone. Some have edges that can split open and lose the fluid that projects the picture so your best bet is to just replace the phones screen, if every thing else works fine

Dropped phone in water

SIM is probably bad or a little wet. but wait and let everything dry out and see if it works. Mine was soaked and the next morning worked fine. at least you probably won't have to buy a new phone.
