Sounds like the battery from the remote control needs to be replaced. Even if the equipment is new, the battery may be a few years old.

Dish tv 21.1 control solutions

craneserv710,
I would need more information on if it has intermittent control of TV or satellite to provide the best information. I have listed some steps to try below for either situation!
Satellite:
If the remote has intermittent use on the satellite, ensure there is nothing that may be causing interference. For a TV1, this could be a fluorescent light, or a direct heat source blocking the IR signal. If it is a TV2, interference may be caused by a device that is powered on. You can try turning off equipment to see if interference is removed, or you can try moving the antenna on the back of the receiver. If it is sticking straight up, turn it parallel with the receiver. If it is laying flat, put it straight up.
Television:
If the intermittent control is for the TV functions, you may need to program a new code into the remote. There are multiple codes for a remote and some will work completely, while others only provide intermittent functions.
Let me know if you have any other questions, or if you can provide additional details! I'll be happy to assist you.

COULD BE A BAD REMOTE, I WOULD TRY ANOTHER ONE FIRST.

COULD BE A FREEZER ETC. PUTTING OUT INTERFERENCE.

OR

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn't work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.

Or a remote in someone

Remote for Sony vcr works intermittently.

Sounds like the connections inside the remote are damaged and might need soldering. Check the connections around where the battery terminals are carefully. Has a battery leaked in the remote?

Search forward button (>>) on DMR-E65 remote inoperational

Carefully pry the remote apart (check for screws). Then you can take a q-tip and some alcohol or Windex and clean any dirt or contamination from the circuit board and the bottom of the button pad. You can some times see rings on the board where the buttons make contact and that is what needs cleaned off.

Bryston amp b100 sst intermittent remote volume control problem

Without going to Bryston for a new remote, I would take the batteries out of the remote and soak the remote( slosh it around too) in a zip-lock type bag with pure isopropyl alcohol for a couple hours.
Let it dry. Try volume again

Insignia 32" remote does not work

If you have a cell phone with a camera on it, aim the remote at the camera and look at the screen on your phone. Press a button on the remote, and see if you can see the light blinking on the remote, on the cell phone screen. If you can, at least you know the remote's working.
If it is, check to see that there is nothing blocking the line-of-sight to the screen.
Finally, when all else fails, try a cheap universal remote. Go through the manual programming steps.
After that, the only solution is a faulty IR sensor in the unit itself. Bring it in to a repair depot....you should probably still be under warranty.

Remote problem

It sounds like an intermittant Infared sensor problem or there is an intermittant solder connection between the sensor and the controler chip. Good Luck
