I have the same problem, the tv will not turn on

  • tdoalamo Jan 08, 2008

During playing, TV just went blank.
The Front LED never turned on.
left for more than 1 hour to reset, but the same problem.

  • bmagary Jan 09, 2008

I also have brought the unit to the authorized Panasonic repair facility and the problem is a failure in the P-board which is the power supply board. The P-board needs to be replaced. The repair will cost $475 plus tax. $250 is for labor. The unit was nop more than two months out of warranty. This does not speak well for Panasonic. I have been researching the problem and it looks like this has happened to many of the Panasonic plasma TVs.

same problem w/ th-42px60u.  Year and a half old.  This is bs for a $2000 plasma.

I just had the same problem tonight, I was watching TV and it just stopped working. I unpluged the TV let it sit for 15 min.... I pluged it back in, nothing! I called Panasonic and most of what they wanted to know is when I bought the TV. Well the big Panasonic troubleshooting solution was to have me plug it into the wall not the surge protector! They must spend a fortune training these guys in Tech Support. I bought my Tv just over a year ago (13 months) and I have a feeling they will not cover a thing.

I did my homework when I bought this TV, it was supposed to be the best! Well I guess this was a bust I have a ton of Tv's that lasted over 20 years. My suggestion is don't buy Panasonic!!!

  • DonFunk Feb 03, 2008

Wow. Can't believe that there are others that experiencing the same problem!  Within a few weeks! Mine just went out tonight and I just hit the web to troubleshoot.  Mine experienced the same problem others have mentioned: TV all of a sudden turned off and will not turn on again.  I'm bummed....

Same problem. Please post a solution if anyone has resolved this problem.

Pan HDTV TH42PX60U did not turn on. Powers up momentarily, then off. Red light at switch blinks intermittently 11 times and repeats. Authorized service shop says it's the fans. Unit in service only 14 months. Unit goes to shop for diagnostics tomorrow.

  • Don_S04 Apr 13, 2008

The TV went blank while watching a show. It will not turn on; there are no blinking lights. Have owned it just over a year.

  • rcooper Apr 24, 2008

sound works, but no picture. will not turn on. Does the sound work on all you others with this problem?

  • Anonymous Jun 14, 2008

Exact same problem. TV just shut off while watching a program and will not turn back on. Had TV for a year and a half. Tried plugging into different outlets with no luck. I also did my research and this was supposed to be the best which is why I bought it.

  • bmagary Jun 14, 2008

As an update to my problem with the failed P board. Contacted Panasonic Service and talked to a customer service representative. I told them how I have purchased many Panasonic products and how unhappy I was with the failure of the product. They proposed paying the labor cost of $250 and I would pay for the part. I just hope it does not happen again.

  • nuniebaby Jul 01, 2008

Same here, TV is only 14 months old. Worked last night, today, NOTHING. Called Panasonic and all they cared about was when I bought it. Like the others, I researched the TV's and chose what was considered the best. I'm very disappointed. Apparently this is a large problem that they won't acknowledge. Won't buy a Panasonic again!!

  • Anonymous Jul 27, 2008

tv just quit, and now all we get is the power light flashes 3 times, and stops, then reats over and over again. i tried unplugging it overnight, nothing............

My Panasonic TH-42PX600U just went down, no power no lights. Anyone have a final solution to this problem?????

  • adysmom2 Aug 21, 2008

WE have the same problem, the TV went off and wouldn't turn back on , we had the repair guy come and he said the Power Supply board is bad and it would cost over $600.00 to fix! We are going to buy the part and install it ourselves......

Our T.V. is only 2 years old, all Panasonic has to say was they would send us $137.00 toward repair! What a crock, I'll never buy another Panasonic again....

    not working no lights nothing

  • Anonymous Oct 13, 2008

I bought this tv two years back and was working fine until last week. While watching tv, all of sudden it shuts off and never turn on again.

  • Anonymous Nov 18, 2008

Apparently this is a recurring theme. I made it about 2 1/2 years and today it just turned off, no blinking lights now, nothing. It's evident there is some sort of power supply issue with my tv. Will see if I have any success with customer service.

    Exact same problem here

  • Anonymous Dec 16, 2008

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. My TV is 18 months old. It just turned off and there is no power. Panasonic gave me the name of a repair facility. They quoted me around $600 to fix it. Sounds like there should be some kind of recall.

  • Anonymous Dec 30, 2008

Same thing happened to me.. JUST over a year old and Panasonic won't stand behind it. The tech people told me to replace the board. TVs should last well beyond a year. What can we do to report Panasonic???

  • slanaighear Jan 08, 2009

Panasonic TH-42PX6U. Ten blinks. Will power on for a few minutes (after recycle), then shut down. Two-years old. Panasonic techs/customer support no help. Which board needs replaced, and what is the cost. Thank you.

SAME THING! Exactly 2 yr old Panasonic TH-42PX60u. Purchased 01/04/07, suddenly turned itself off and is DEAD. Maybe we should get a class action suite together folks! Bombard Panasonic / at LEAST we can all threaten to turn it in to BBB. My current RCA home theator is 16 yrs old, went to shop once and cost just over 100 bucks to fix. I bought the Panasonic for my 89 yr old mother in law for her birthday, with thought she could enjoy, and I might inherit it back one day. WELL it looks like it isnt worth ****. I bought on sale for 1699. This is a huge disappointment for the Panasonic name! They should make it good and offer a replacement upgrade for free! If you're interested in a class action suite or a gang attack letter to Panasonic with all our names and addresses, feel free to email me at imaspacewoman @ yahoo.com I left the spaces in the address so I won't be attacked by spambots. Send me your name, date of purchase and address and i will save it. When and if I get enough response, I will fax with a letter to Panasonic and if needed the BBB.

I have the same problem. I found the fuse number and have ordered them from panasonic (K5d802BNA005 -$1.47ea). I had my electrical engineer look at the power board and he thinks there is something wrong with the zener diode (BOBB17000009 - 7.24ea). I hope this fixes it. I will let you know.

Same problem exactly 2 years after I bought the Panasonic 42-inch plasma. I purchased a $299 4 year warranty with Best Buy that I will attempt to use. Given the prices quoted by previous posters it appears that this was a cost effective thing to do--assuming BB stands by their warranty!

All the boards are available (used, salvaged, and tested) on ShopJimmy website. They also allow returns of identical board for 30% restocking. Power supply board is $110. Anyone familiar with electronic repair can replace - remove power, remove back panel keeping track of screws/location, carefully unplug about a dozen connectors to the board, replace board, reverse steps for assembly. Be careful about static discharge to boars; handle by edges.

I have contacted Panasonic. I was given information about something called "Team 9". It must be some type of customer service team. They had me FAX copies of my receipt of purchase, repair bill ($534) and contact information. They gave me a case number and this week I received a voicemail saying they had an "offer" for me. I called a few times and left messages and someone is supposed top contact me on Monday.

Same thing happened to me, no power at all, very dissapointing after spending $2000 on a tv. The problem is the power supply is blown and must be replaced at a cost of over $400.

If the TV cost to much to repair, would you be willing to sell it for parts? My front glass screen has got a chip in it. Cant see paying 500 just to have a new one installed.
Thanks

I had the same problem also.
Somebody said the fuse might have blown out?
I just brought to the service repair.
It costed $100 for the check-in.
Don't know how much it costs more for repair.

Hope somebody has a good solution on this.

Miti 1080 sereies tv won't turn back on

Befor thinking the worst, it may just be a tactile switch, probly the vol. down button switch on the front panel of the set. When you unplug the set and replug it again, does the green LED stop blinking after 20 sec. or so?
If the Green LED does not stop blinking you are talking a major repais on the Main Chasi Assy.
Hope this helps,

Will not turn on.

If the TV is blowing the fuse in your house, It looks like a component in the power supply is shorted.
To fix the TV, you will need to buy a new power supply module or get the one inside the TV fixed.
Good Luck.

My 60" lcd projection tv wont turn on sometimes and throws a lamp light, and if i watch tv for a while and turn it off it wont turn back on and throws the red lamp light

The buzzing sound you most likely hear is the ballast trying to fire up the lamp. I would say replace the lamp and yes they can act up at will. If this is the first lamp replacement ever then you are doing good.
