Question about Zhone (6218-I2-200) Router

2 Answers

Got my internet installed today, the ISP is Northstate Communications. Tried to access the web interface for the router using the default user and pass, which is Admin/Admin and did not work. Called Customer service and was stuck in a phone tree for 4 hrs when they told me to call back tomorrow. I got aggrivated and reset my router. Now I can't access the internet and my User/Pass still does not accept Admin/Admin. I am online using a Verizon 3G Aircard and my computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro, Vista Capable, Intel Centrino, Running on 2 gb of ram and a 2ghz processor.

I was just explaining that its supposed to be admin/admin, but it is not admin/admin. I cannot access my webinterface. I have tried admin/admin in lower cases and Admin/Admin in uppercase. I have tried every combo you can imagine for 4 hrs straight. The router is about to be thrown out the window and I'm about to go buy a router at Wal-Mart. When you reset it is supposed to go back to factory default log in, but it doesn't. To access the panel your supposed to go to 192.168.1.1, but I have to go to 192.168.1.254 to access the web interface to configure my router.

Hi,
You can access the router through web interface and configure it.
The default username is admin and leave the the password field blank - Don't type anything - and Click Login). All you have to do is connect the router to the DSL Modem through LAN cable (or wirelessly) and make configure the router according to the needs and ISP. To secure the connection follow the following steps: -
First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is 192.168.0.1 (written at the back of router) and lookup for the options to do the following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and leave the the password field blank - Don't type anything)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings" 2.Under "Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply

Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

I have problem disconecting my internet and was told to change the chanel ,ho to get to chanels?

You'll have to access the web interface of this router using your web browser.
From page 10 of the user manual, follow this link to access your web interface: http://192.168.1.1
The default password, if no one has changed it, is "admin" with no user name.

Need to configure for wirless setupnew dsl line from one isp to another need to set up router for wireless connection

If you are setting up a new router for DSL connection, i presume that you already know the login credentials to access your router's admin interface. By default, depending on your router's model, you can access and configure it at http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 using a web browser and make sure that computer you are using is connected to the router through an ethernet cable.

Default login credentials:
user name: admin
password: admin (or try also leaving it blank)

When you are at the web interface, go to a link known as SETUP and there you can setup your connection. If your DSL provides you a user name and password, then you can also enter them there. Then save your settings.

To allow internet broadcasting using wifi, go to a link known as "WIRELESS" and setup encryption there using WAP, WPA2, or WEP or any other recommended encryption protocol. Through this, you can prevent other users near your place to use your internet connection without informing you.

Cannot access my wifi thru Web-based...

Actually if you want to access it via the web interface, there's no need for additional softwares on your PC.

(Make sure that you are connected to the wireless network.)If you are using windows XP, go to command prompt and then type:

ipconfig /all

Take note of the Gateway address.

On your web browser, type in http://gatewayipaddresshere.
E.g. http://192.168.1.1

It will ask for the username and password. Try the defaults, admin/admin or admin/password or just type admin for the username and then leave the password field blank.

You should be able to access the web interface now.

I have airtel brodband connection but today i bought a wireless-g (linksys) how i setup it

get the default ip address of the router which is either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

Should be stated on the underside of the router or in the manual of the router.

Open your web browser ( internet explorer or firefox )

Delete everything out of the address bar and then enter the ip address of the router into the address bar including the dots ie 192.168.1.1 and then press enter

It should prompt you to login

the default login is admin as the username and click on ok ignoring the password field.

Otherwise it will be admin as the password and ignoring the username field and click on ok

This should take you to the web based configuration interface where you can configure all the settings for the router with regards to wireless , the ISP settings etc.

If you are unsure of what to configure in there post back with what your ISP advises to configure and I can help further.

Wi Fi fine, ISP fine, no internet via LAN connection though.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking your ability to go to websites. I saw this the other day, somehow the users firewall was set to block all internet traffic out of the computer.
