Question about Dell Precision M60 Notebook
I have a Precision M60. I lost my power source for a while and finally bought a new one. Now that I try to power up....
It goes to the "please select the operating system to start:"
If I chose Microsoft windows XP ... I try to start normally.. and it gives the windows xp screen ...and then goes to teh Dell screen and back to 'please chose operating system'
if i I chose XP again and try safemode...it goes to the dell screen and back to chosee operating system...
if I choose windows 2000 windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
If I try to boot to the cd drive...I get the following..
If you have a hard disk installed, the cables may be loose or the disk may not be initialized. ... message
I get an "error - The Hard Disk was not found! ... message
Then I get a 'You may need to run the FDisk program to initialize the disk.
Any suggestions would help...thanks in advance...
Boot into the BIOS, I think you hit the Delete key on Dell's to get into the BIOS, but I'm not sure. You should see some type of message at boot that says "To enter setup press XXX" Where XXX is the Delete key or some other key.
Once you're in the BIOS setup see if your HDD is listed. You may also find the option to reset the BIOS to default. Generally speaking this will not hurt anything and may be worth a try.
