it is not the the belt that is not rotating it is the area that you put the belt onto that stops working once it touches the object to sand

Most belt sanders are simular,if you have right size belt, there should be a lever between the belt wheels, pull lever out,put belt on,then close lever, some also have adjusting knob, turn clockwise to tighting.

How To Re-Wax a Wood Deck for a Trotter Treadmill

Following are instructions on how to re-wax a wood deck for a Trotter treadmill and a list of materials needed for this procedure

Materials Needed for Re-Wax

  • 1 lb. of Trotter deck wax
  • Clothes iron (never to be used on clothing again)
  • Belt sander with 120 grit sanding belt
  • Vibrating sander with 250 and 400 grit paper
Pre-Existing condition: If your wood Trotter treadmill deck is worn down through the first ply, it cannot be re-waxed.
  1. Using a belt sander and 120-grit belt, gently sand in the same direction as the grain the glazed layer off the top of the deck until you have reached porous wood. If, while sanding, the first layer of ply has been sanded off, the deck can no longer be re-waxed
  2. Using a vibrating sander with 250-grit paper, sand the entire top surface of the deck until it is smooth and soft.
  3. After sanding with the 250-grit paper, continue sanding with 400-grit paper until completely smooth.
  4. Heat the clothes iron to its maximum temperature. Put a handful of Trotter deck wax on the center surface of the deck and place the preheated iron on top of it until the wax melts.
  5. Work the wax into the deck surface by pushing the melted wax across the deck with the iron. Add more wax as needed until the entire top surface of the deck is impregnated with wax.
  6. Apply just enough wax until the wood is saturated with wax.
Do NOT leave wax pooling on the surface of the deck.

Belt sander runs until I put pressure on it

It sounds like the sand paper itself is slipping. There should be an adjustment to tighten the pressure on the sand paper itself.

Oscillating drum sander runs a few minutes and stops

This usually occurs if the motor is overheating and the internal circuit breaker is tripping. After it cools down, it self resets. This can be caused by bad bearings or parts dragging the motor down, making it work hard enough to over heat and trip the breaker. If you are running it on an extension cord or circuit that isn't able to provide it with the amps it needs the motor will overheat and trip the breaker also.

What causes my belt sander to leave black goo on the wood? I keep replacing the sand belt, I do not push the sander into the wood.

Maybe you are burning the wood. If the wood is hard (like oak or maple) and the grit is fine (like 100 or higher) then this can only be avoided by NEVER running it still in one place. Keep the sander moving quickly over the surface. In fact, you should start the sander BEFORE you touch it to the wood, and when you do touch the wood you should be landing it like a little airplane on the runway. As long as you keep the sander oriented with the grain you can move it forward and back as well as side to side. Just keep moving until you lift it off of the wood - this also helps keep the surface flatter. Good luck.

Hello I have a compressor and my electric orbital sander has finally gone legs up. My question is if I get an air sander primarily for sanding wood is a straight line the best sort to get or are the...

I work in a wood working shop and we use orbitals on everything. You still will still sand with nice even strokes with the grain. It leaves a great finish. They are nice, light, and easy to use! They do use a lot of air though, so make sure your air compressor can handle the one you buy. If you compressor is constantly running you might have to take breaks so you do not burn it up. enjoy!

sounds to me like the bearings are locking up, you can go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number and download a parts explosion for this tool so you can see the replacement part numbers. when you had it apart did you see any indication that the field was rubbing on the armature?? I would take a close look at the bearings though.

Bosch 3283 dvs sander has unbalanced spin

This means the sander has been droped and the pad support and/or the bearing orbit has been bent, maybe even the motor shaft. Never leave any power tool sitting on a bench, always set it on the floor, it will end up there at some time anyways. You can try replacing a part at a time and spend a lot of money and time, but is it worth it?
