It could be the water valve or water switch in the icemaker. Now it doesnt call for water until the thermostat is satisfied. Now if you pour water and it goes thru and dumps into the bucket I would try to change the valve.

Ice maker won't stop filling. Makes a little ice, but water is almost constant into the maker

The water control valve is shot. It's not making ice because there is a constant flow of water into the ice tray. Shut the water off at the feed point for the fridge for now. If the drain gets plugged you're going to have a small catastrophe on your hands.

Here's a procedure to test it to be sure:

Water line that feeds the icemaker is holding pressure at the flow tube to the ice tray and keeps blowing the line off

First...some questions: Is it making ice cubes OK while the line is holding? Have you measured he pressure in the line...if so what is it? What's the condition of the line...is it deteriorated? What's the condition of the hose/tube/line connector...does it appear to be intact?

Icemaker isn't working. Hot water pouring out

Most ice makers do have a defrost element below the ice maker. The problem you described is strange. I would like the model of the refrigerator and brand name. Unplug refrigerator and remove ice maker from freezer compartment now. If water continues to flow you may need the service line that feeds refrigerator turned off until I get your model number. Turned Whirpoll ED22PE off and moved to install new flooring. Put back to previous location, connected water and elect...would not make ice. Someone said it has a temp sensor and must be 10 deg b4 making...

If the water valve is leaking a bit, it will cause freezeup, as will a flow restriction. The 'water splashed inside freezer' sounds like leaky shut-off valve.

Sometimes those 'saddle pirecing' water shutoff valves get restricted, so you are not getting enough pressure.

Also, if you had things disconnected, a little bit of grit may be in the filter or shut-off valve, causing issues.

I would:

a) check the house water pressure, to make sure it's normal

b) check/clean/replace fridge water filter

c) inspect/replace saddle valve and look for kinked water feed line

d) backflush water out of fridge, if possible, and look at clean/inspect/replace water valve.

Although they do make add-on heater kits for water maker feed lines, your issue just sounds like a water flow issue...either a leaky valve or a flow restriction.

Ice maker stopped making ice

Hi

If the ice maker has completely stopped producing ice then check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. For this you need to look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary. If the ice maker is producing ice poorly i.e. if it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

The water solinoid is not sending water to my ice tray

Had the same problem. As long as the ice machine is still moving, meaning its working but just no water is getting to the ice tray.  order part #2205762 valve, solenoid and change it out.  It is not hard to do if you pay attention to how you take the old one out.

Ice maker is leaking into the tray where the ice is dispensed causing the ice to become embedded into the tray

The ice maker usually is an easily removable assembly, lift and pull or something like that. It may be the little water line has cracked, plastic don't like being cold.
