Will not leave busy....

Vista premium.....dell studio laptop....boots up and can do a few online programs or internal programs and then locks up and will run busy all night long. cannot ctrl alt delete......no keys work ... must shut down at power to restart.........have run mcafee, spybot, registry mechanic....but no success....rebooted pressing f12 and got into some system info and it came up with error code 2000-1046....that shows up as replace hard drive???? ... I can access any program but just for a limited time....can you help.

If you are getting a 146 error, the HDD is failing. Back up your data, as you can then replace the HDD. No amount of tools or SW is going to change the fact that the drive is dying

If it is actually booting into Vista, it sounds like maybe you have a stuck key. Turn the computer off and press every key a few times and see if any of them feel "stuck". Even if they don't, pressing them may have released any sticking they had. I would try that first.

If you know a password for a user account you could try pressing F8 before it boots and choosing Repair - then restore to an earlier point in time.

Why do you need to duel boot???
It is impossable for Windows XP to be Duel Booted to Windows 7.
There IS a way, but it would be to hard

Try system restoring it by going to the date that it worked. Just type it in the search box on your start menu and go to it and follow directions.

User password lockout - Vissta home premium

you can search for a password boot disk which will disable the administrator password.
There are dozens of these types of programs but one program I recommend is windows password reset 6.0

Download the iso file and burn it to a disk to create the boot disk,

that simple. Configure your pc or laptop to boot in the cd drive,

insert the CD and it would boot then just disable the password and
restart.
Took about 5 minutes for the whole process.
