Question about Panasonic 15.6v Ni-mh Cordless Drill - Ey6432gqkw

1 Answer

The electronic brake on my drill stopped working.

When i take my finger off the trigger it slows down to a stop, and no electric braking. It used to work. So i just took it apart to play with the trigger, but there's nothing much i can do... Do I need a new trigger? Or could it be brushes or some such thing?

Could just be the switch. while you have it apart I would check the condition of the motor brushes. The switch is around 40.00. Let me know if you need more help

When trigger is released my drill does not stop immediately as it used to. Where is the brake located.

The brake it integrated into the armature windings. There is no specific brake part to replace. Replacing the armature is about the same price as a new drill.

What fluid is used in mobility scooters electronic brake for sterling sapphire

There is no fluids in either brake on on these, there is two braking systems, both electronically operated .when stopping or slowing up power generated in motor is returned to the battery .this rapidly retards the motor dynamically braking the scooter,a fraction of a second after stopping the electric parking brake is applied by removing its 24volt supply, this is the click you hear when starting or after stopping the scooter.the only servicing reqd is to dust of the casing of the electromagnetic parking brake. do not dismantle it,or oil it.to test try to push scooter,if it moves easily when NOT in freewheel.replace it.

Brake system of a scooter

There is a parking brake lever at the back, but if you're talking about stopping the scooter while riding it, there are no separate brakes.
taking your finger off the power lever turns the electric motor into an electric generator which slows and stops the scooter very quickly.

Milwaukee 18v Drill - Brake not working any more..

Two options the brushes are worn or sticking in their holders or the switch is faulty. Switch can be expensive. If it's under a year contact milwaukee and get it fixed under warranty. It might need the upgraded switch.

The motor is smelling hot and I see sparks when I release the trigger. Any maintenance needed?

It gets hot because this is very hard work for a 14.4 volt drill. For that matter, it is hard work for any portable or small electric drill. The sparks you see during the stop procedure are likely an electric brake. If yours doesn't have a electric brake - it may be too late for maintenance :-(

Your drill would appreciate it if you would give it a rest when it gets hot ... this is not good for your drill.

I am sure others will have more to say about this, here is my 2 cents worth.

Dewalt 18 volt compact drill

yes this is normal the spark keeps motor from stalling out by taking away the friction spark by making own spark
the clunk is the drill brake so you dont brake your hand when screw goes in all the way unlike old drills that kept going even when your hand was attached to it
