Question about Emerson REWR10D4
I've tried three or four brand of manufactures, Memorx, TDK, Maxell and so on, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-RW, and the list goes on. My Drive still does not reconize blank disc's. It will read disc's already recorded to,like pictures, games, movies, and so on. It just does not reconize blank disc's. I've tried changing software that burns disc's, but still nothing, like Nero, WinDVD and Roxio. I tried everything under the stars that i can come up with...I give up and now I have to ask the experts.
Please help me...

CLEANING THE DISC LENS ? If this unit still does not perform properly although you refer to the relevant sections and to ?TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE? in this Owner?s Manual, the laser optical pickup unit may be dirty. Consult your dealer or an Authorized Service Center for inspection and cleaning of the laser optical pickup unit. FROM EWR20V5 OWNERS MANUAL FUNAI-CORP.COM

What type of pic file are you burning to the CD? What format are you using as a burn profile? Without knowing this, my only guess is your DVD player can't show the pics in the format used, so you need to work around that problem. Shouldn't be too hard, reply back with more info...

SOURCE: Recording Error -- E7
When I bought my emerson ewr10d4 about 2-3 years ago, the machine only recorded on disks that were rated at 2x or 4x speed. And it didn't accept off-brand disks, it only liked the major brands like Maxell, TDK, Memorex, Sony. I learned this quirk the hard way. Eventually, when I called the 1-800 number, they sent me a disk to upgrade the recorder to 8x speed (and it was very simple to do - basically just pop it in). Helped a lot, although this year most disks in stores are 16x speed, and as of a couple months ago (November 2008) emerson didn't have a newer up-to-date upgrade available. But if you didn't do the 8x upgrade yet, call them and start there. It's a small improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. By the way, if anyone wants to buy some lesser-known chinese and japanese-brand disks, I may be able to help!

Get a CD/DVD laser lens cleaner - the kind with optical quality brushes sticking out of the bottom of the disk. Run this in the player/recorder a couple times. Should clear it up.
You can get them at Best Buy, Radio Shack, online, etc...
