I purchased a Universal Wall Mount Control to operate a current wireless controlled fan with a hand held remote. Why is the wall mount control not operating fan with fans original receiver?

Depending on the age and brand of the fan it could have dip switches on the receiver, the part of the remote control unit that is either up in the canopy of the fan or it may be built into the fan, and the wall control ie transmitter may not be compatible with it. When replacing a remote control unit it is advisable to replace both since it could be either the receiver or transmitter.

The digidoor motor does not respond to the remote or the master wall mounted remote

Is it getting power? Use a multimeter and verify voltage. That a good place to start. Are the remotes and wall switch both powered by batteries or is the wall switch powered by AC/DC current? If both are in working order (power), are they both using a wireless type communication? Need a bit more info to make a correct solution.

The hand held divice stopped working and the mounted pad light flashes quickly. The mounted pad does work.

The most likely problem here is that your wall control is bad. I would disconnect the 2 wires going to it and I think you will find your remote works. Replace the wall control.

We have just purchased a universal remote for our ducted airwell air con - we need a code for it and airwell isnt listed on the remote

I am sorry if ask wha may seem like a few silly questions, but I need some clarification to assist you better.

-Is this a Residential AC Unit?
-If it is a residential AC unit, where is the thermostat located for this unit?
-Do you know if there is a wall mounted thermistor located on the wall in another room or in the room it cools?

I ask these questions, because generally if the fan coil is mounted in the ductwork, then there isn't always a way of controlling it remotely. Generally, it's controlled by hard-wired thermostat.
If you know it was controlled remotely, then you will need to go the website for the Airwell Fan coil and do a search on programming the remote. I'm sorry there is no short cut for this, you will need to obtain the code from Airwell.

Hope this helped... :D

Television does not turn on

please check the ac plug at the wall and also behind the tv. most newer tv's have a cord like a computer that plugs in the back and they sometimes come loose. are the rest of your electronic components working ? if the ac cord is plugged in, your power supply inside the tv has gone bad. you cannot blame your 2 year old if this power supply has gone bad, this was "NOT" caused by playing with the remote control.

You are correct in having concerns. Many articles on the web say cut two holes, run the wiring and you're done. This is incorrect, unsafe, and can void your insurance policy in case of a fire.

Many local building codes are based on the National Electrical Code (NEC).

First, the NEC does not allow flexible power cords (or extension cords) to be mounted inside of walls. This means you can't run the TV power cord inside the wall. So a new AC wall socket will have to be installed where it will be hidden by the plasma when mounted.

Second, all wiring run inside a wall must be rated by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as Class 3, or CL-3. This means the cables between your cable box, DVD player, etc. must all be UL CL-3 rated. Fortunately, CL-3 rated HDMI, Component, Coax, and other cables are available. They are just a little harder to find and will cost a little more.

Third, make sure the wall mount you purchase can handle the weight of your plasma and is securely bolted into the wall studs.

If you follow this advice, you will pass inspection by even the most picky home inspectors and insurance companies.

Installation

I assume that you're talking about a remote-controlled ceiling fan.

There are two parts to a remote-control setup -- the transmitter (the switch which you use to operate the fan and/or light), and the receiver (which receives the signals sent by the transmitter, and directly controls the fan and/or light).

The receiver -- which should look like a plastic rectangle, usually white, grey, or orange-brown in color -- can be identified by the fact that it has several colored wires coming out of it, and doesn't have any buttons. This is mounted in the ceiling fan itself. On nearly all setups, it goes inside the canopy (the decorative part of the ceiling fan, up by the ceiling, which hides the fan's electrical wires).

The transmitter may be either hand-held like a television remote control, or in-wall mounted like a light switch. If you have the hand-held variety, there is nothing to install in a wall box. The wall-box wires should be appropriately connected up, and a blank cover plate should be put on top of the gang box.

If, on the other hand, you have the in-wall variety of transmitter, then yes -- it gets mounted in the wall, in a gang box, like a normal light switch or outlet.

If you need any further clarification, please feel free to ask!
