Remove all the cartridges from the printer and perfrom the below steps.

  1. Press the On button (I cannot get my printer to print - i have inserted - c01416329.gif ) to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord into the back of the product.
  5. Press the On button (c01416329.gif ) to turn on the product.

After you perform the above steps, re-insert the cartridges one by one and check for any error after you insert any particular cartridge.
You would face issues with refilled cartridges, they may work well for some time but once issue starts it goes on....
Any clarifications please comment....

PRINTER IS SHOWING "INSERT PRINT CARTRIDGE" WHATto do

try opening the printer and making sure the cartridge didn't become loose and see if it still has ink, if not you need to buy a new cartridge, if it has ink and is fully in place remove it and make sure there is no dried or leaking ink blocking the opening and if so clean it off with a dry soft cloth

False ink empty

Are you sure its exclamation mark?..
This warning message related to print head. (warn out). When you are replacing ink tube assembly use dummy print heads to do the priming (new ink tubes are empty & they have to fill with ink)..
Action: Remove all cartridges and print heads, switch on the printer follow the screen message.(Insert cartridges first next dummy print heads).once its recognizes cartridges then it switch over to print heads, insert dummy print heads. Once printer recognized the dummy print heads, printer will perform priming, during priming dummy print heads will filled with respective inks.(follow the display message)Remove dummy print heads & insert normal print heads. Wait till printer recognizes print heads, load the paper & wait till performs the calibration, once calibration is successfully done issue closed.
If calibration not successfully done, check align print out for which print head is not printed properly, replace it..
Pl ensure that minimum 50% ink levels required in cartridges before performing the priming. Best of luck..

  • Store the cartridges in an air-tight container, such as the storage unit you received with your photo cartridge, or dispose of them properly.

  • If you are installing new ink cartridges, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of each ink cartridge.
NOTE: The following illustration shows a black cartridge and a color cartridge (used for normal printing). For photo printing, use a photo cartridge and a color cartridge.

Insert the new ink cartridges. Make sure the black or photo ink cartridge is secure in the left ink cartridge carrier, and the color ink cartridge is secure in the right ink cartridge carrier.

    Incorrect ink level reading

kiwipom, While ink cartridges look like plastic cups that only hold ink...they are not. The information the printer needs to think it has a "NEW" set of ink cartridges is on the cartridge itself. You must fakeout the printer to believe you are inserting "new lexmark" inks. Printer companies make money from the repeated sale of the ink, not the printer itself. I had an old epson that I would refill I would then have to place pieces of tape on the cartridge turn the printer on, remove the cartridge move the tape to another side of the cartridge turn on again etc. Anyway lexmark may need the same. When the new original cartridges show try them first to get the printer "thinking" correctly. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
