Pull up on the top ... many machines are held down with a spring type clip and there may be a couple screws to remove. With the top up, you will see how to pull the front off. Remember there are wires on the door. Swing the door to the side and the drum will follow.

I hope this helps you

The bearings under the drum may have failed, making the drum drop, so the gap is bigger. Replacing drum or bearings is a lot of work, cheaper to replace the dryer. Or you could make a plastic ring yourself that is thicker to fill the gap....

Wow never heard of that before! You would definately have to take out the drum to access, thats if its not too damaged or melted already.

How do I replace the dryer belt?

sorry see the make, here is how u do the job

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Screwdriver with interchangeable bits
  • Putty knife
  • New dryer belt for GE Hotpoint electric dryer
  1. Step 1 Unplug the dryer and pull it out from the wall. Take out the upside-down screws in front that hold down the top. In older Hotpoint models, they will be under the rim of the top in front. In newer models, they will be on the inside of the dryer door opening, facing up. Slide your putty knife under the top rim to pry it up and get your fingers under it. Lift the top off the machine and set it aside.
  2. Step 2 Take out the screws that hold the front of the dryer in place, which will be on the upper inside of the box, on either side, facing toward the front. Pull the dryer front off. Keep the side with the wire connections next to the dryer (so you don't have to disconnect the wires) while opening the other side away from it like a door. The wiring side will vary.
  3. Step 3 Slip the belt off the dryer drum from the front. It won't come out completely; it will be held in one lower corner by the motor assembly.
  4. Step 4 Remove the access panel on the lower part of the back of the dryer by removing the screws. Access the motor unit. Note the configuration of the belt in the pulleys, then slip the belt off the pulleys by pushing the larger pulley forward.
  5. Step 5 Slip the new belt onto the drum from the front, with the ribbed side against the drum. Re-string it on the pulleys from the back, in the same configuration as the old one. Manually turn the drum several revolutions to make sure the belt is straight.
  6. Step 6 Put the rear access panel back on with the screws you took out. Close and re-secure the front and top (in that order) as they were before. Plug in the dryer.

I need to know where the dip switch is in the Hampton Bay Spoleto fan.. is it in the housing directly above the light fixture?

usually they are in a separate unit that slides into the hanger bracket that attaches to the ceiling inside the decorative canopy cover, otherwise they should be visible if you are looking down onto the top of the motor without having to open any kind of access.

Clothes get caught between the drum and the front of the inside nonmovable part of the dryer and we are getting snags of the clothing inside and ruining the clothes

there is suppose to be a felt type piece that goes on the drum to full that gap it may have fell off . its a struggle to put on unless the drum is accessible. you can pop the top of the machine off to get better access.

Check the house electrical panel dryer breakers (pair), push OFF, then ON. If breakers trip again, problem is a short inside the dryer. Pull the power plug from the socket. The top must be opened which allows access to front panel screws from inside. Lift the panel and pull away from cabinet. Disconnect the wiring to door switch and light. Make a diagram of wiring colors and where they went. Uncouple the drive belt from the motor--go through a sub-panel in the back and release a large tension spring from the idler pulley, then remove belt from motor. Remove several screws from inside of drum center, then lift the drum from the case. The heating element(s) are mounted in back of the drum on a supporting wall. Look for any burned areas or wires that touch the surrounding metal. On reassembly, check the condition of the drum belt--any cracks or missing pieces--replace the belt now.

    Can't remove dryer blower wheel

I would start by taking off the top and checking the belt to see if part of it tore and is hitting the inside of the cabinet. I have not found a real good way to get the blowers out without having to break them sometimes. the part of the blower that you have to hold is access through the front behind the motor. problem is when you turn the motor shaft, the wrench strips out on the blower, then you have to break them, but unless you need a new motor, it should not have to come off.
