Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Epson printer.

This is a quite common issue with this model. Usually this happen when a paper jammed is pulled to the rear/backwards with force. Most of the times this procedure unseats paper Jam sensor.

The sensor is a black plastic arm with a spring attached, so it can return to its original position after the paper is removed. For some reason the sensor is not able to return to the original position, I hope it is not broken. Perhaps a tiny piece of paper is the cause of this and can't be seen from the outside. Of course I have no idea exactly what went wrong with your printer, I'm just providing you a possible solution according to my own experience.

You may need to examine the sensor, but it is not possible without removing the cover.

Because of the major disassemble is requires, (and some troubleshooting also) you will need a service manual for reference. You can get a copy of the service manual from http://www.2manuals.com/ (quite expensive by the way) but you can have instructions for free at http://www.inkjetprinterhelp.us/cx6400001.html

If you don't feel confident following the instructions, I highly recommend you to contact a service technician to determine what went wrong with the printer (and avoid personal injuries).

Hope this information helps. Good Luck!

It says WHAT?
What sound is it making.
Have you looked in the front and the back. Have you taken the paper tray out and looked inside for pieces of paper?

My problem too, solved it easy, couldn't believe it, a pen had fallen in the paper feed slot, I didn't think it possible, couldn't see it until I took it to bits, be careful but worth a look

Lexmark x5495 not feeding paper

There could be something that's blocking the paper path. Try this approach to fix the problem:
  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Make sure there are no foreign objects inside the feeder - try to use a flashlight to look into the paper feeder.
  2. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Check the cartridge area and make sure there are no foreign objects blocking the paper path and the cartridge carrier path. Close the printer.
  3. Re-brick your printer. Remove the power adapter from the printer (it's the black box found behind the printer where the power cord is plugged into). Re-plug the power adapter after 30 seconds. That should give enough time for the printer to reset itself.
  4. When the printer turns on, re-insert the cartridges and load some paper.
  5. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
Should the problem continue, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance.

Paper doesn't feed

Hi, The problem could be an object inside the Auto document feeder that could be blocking the path of the paper or preventing the feed roller from feeding the paper. You can try the following, Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power cord, then remove the paper and then turn the printer upside down and shake it a little bit, sometimes this will help remove any objects inside the printer.

Both ink and paper lights are flashing.. and E sign. full carts and paper. what the heck?

Some part of the mechanism is locked or the encoder strip isn't in position.
Look inside the printer and make sure the cartridge carriage moves freely and that there isn't anything that could stall the carriage, check for pieces of paper or other strange objects. Try resetting the printer disconnecting all the cables and holding [CANCEL] and [PAPER SIZE] while connecting the power cable only.

When it is time for printing the paper feeds in crooked and gets jammed.

You need to look down inside where the paper is loaded with a flashlight and mirror, That problem is usually caused by strange objects falling in where they should'nt be, stopping the paper. I've found jewelry, pens, screws, candy, wrappers, and lots of stuff. way down inside.

Paper ALWAYS jams!

Check if there are any paper leftovers inside the printer from previous printing jobs and make sure there isn't any strange objects that may have fall down in the paper loading tray.
Also put the printer upside down and move it up and down to see if anything that may have fall in the paper path, can get out of the printer.
