I have a JVM1440 that has no lights or power at all. Unplugged and replugged unit but still no power. Could ift be the smart board?

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/JVM1440.html

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://www.ajmadison.com/ajmadison/itemdocs/PDF_GE_JVM1440_user_manual.pdf

And here is a direct link to the Online Parts List and Service diagrams for that model:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=216893

To view the Support Page, user's manual, or the service diagrams just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents like the owner's manual.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, the follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

I will assume you have checked the house's main circuit panel for any tripped brealers and tested the electrical wall outlet for a good power supply.

Hopefully the problem is just a blown main fuse inside the microwave. In order to access and check this you will have to disconnect the power cord and then remove the oven from the wall. Then remove the case in order to access the electrical parts inside.

Here is a diagram of the fuse location once you have the unit disassembled:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=21657924&pkw_=basket&model_id=216893&NewWindow=1

The fuse is item number 47 on the diagram and parts list.

Here is a picture of the main fuse on that model:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=2631556

Just replace the fuse with an exact match and reassemble. If you tested the old fuse and it was still good, then you may be dealing with a more complicated and expensive fix possibly involving the control panel circuit board. At that point you may want to consider seeking additional assistance or just getting a new oven.

Thank you very much and good luck.

Numbers 4,7,8,9,0 and Beverage on pad do not work. Others do work, do I have to replace the oven? (Spacesaver JVM1440WH04) Over stove oven installed in Feb 2007, in use 4 months each year. This problem...

No you can have the keypad replaced. It may be something as simple as a dis-lodged keypad ribbon connection where it mates to the control panel recepticle. If you look here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/modelsearch.aspx?model=JVM1440 there are several model numbers it seems you did not provide all of the numbers but the keypad is the same. The key panel here is $75.00 http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/modelsearch.aspx?model=JVM1440 Then you add a service call or shop charge your looking at well over a $100.00 repair. Your call on how to proceed. Good luck.

Hi, I have a GE JVM1440 & the plate won't spin

This is commonly caused by a turntable motor that has worn out and needs replaced. The following link explains how to access and replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3555716-replacing_a_turntable_motor_on_a_microwa

If the model number is correct, the part number is WB26X10038. You may also consider replacing the turn table shaft (coupler), part number WB06X10138. You can purchase replacement parts at the following websites: searspartsdirect.com pcappliancerepair.com appliancepartspros.com repairclinic.com The first three sites listed offer helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you in parts location/identification. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Howv do you remove plastic grill above the door on a GE 1400 spacemaker to dust of the fins

Your owner's manual should cover this, but if for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Usually you just remove the two screws on the front of the top cover of the microwave (or in the grille itself) then lift up/out on the grille, as shown in the drawings below.
