Question about Spirit Esprit ET4 Treadmill

1 Answer

Belt won't turn.

Spirit cushion flex model 775PH. Unit has a 2.44 HP DC motor. The motor and belt turn freely by hand. Everything appears to be in good condition inside the motor compartment. Found no burn marks on either of the two circuit boards. The Baldor incline motor is working fine. When you press the start button the belt drive motor is trying to turn but can't. I attempted to run on the belt while the motor was trying to start but that had no effect on the motor.

The brush has to be able to rotate freely in order to work. If you remove the roller and its end caps you may find it is clogged with hair or other debris. Cleaning out the debris should allow the brush to rotate freely.

Check the following:

1. DC motor assembly.
Make sure all the motor plate mounting screws are tight.

2. Idler pulley - DC motor assembly.
Make sure the idler pulley is not binding on the pulley shaft. Check the pulley for wear. Check the idler pulley shaft on the motor mounting plate for damage or contamination.

3. Drive pulley.
Check the drive pulley for wear, binds or damage to the pulley or pulley shaft. Make sure the pulley turns freely on the pulley shaft.

4. Motor drive belt - tray drive belt.
Check the DC motor drive belt for damage. Make sure the belt is tracking correctly on the drive pulley, idler pulley, and motor pulley. Check the tray drive belt for damage. Make sure the belt is tracking correctly on

Drum won't spin on it's own but spins freely by hand. Was slow to start spinng before. Took front off but can not see belt at all, if it has one?

drive belt is normally accessed from the rear of the machine or if sealed rear from underneath(bottom) the belt is normally easier to get off the drive motor pulley first . Sounds like your belt is either already broken or has come away from drive unit or drum .

10inch delta table saw....motor starts slow then kicks off

Assuming that this model has a belt drive from the motor to the saw arbor. Remove the belt and turn the motor on--same problem? If motor is a capacitor start unit, the capacitor may have failed. Be sure to check motor rotation by hand--it should spin freely. If ok, check the turning action of the blade itself--it should spin freely and coast for a little while. If not, check the arbor bearings for failure. Hope this helps!

Put new belt on dryer but it wont turn and i can smell burning and the drum wont turn

sounds like the belt may be bound somewhere, I would take it back apart and see if I can turn everything by hand. If everything turns freely then I would reinsert drum, hook belt up and see it I could turn the drum with my hands, it will turn but not to freely. Hope this helped tim

Motor/Drum doesn't turn/spin & belt appears to be OK

With the belt off can you spin the motor freely by hand? If no then the bearings are froze and the motor has to be replaced. If yes and the motor will not start when power is applied then the motor needs to be replaced. If it starts without the belt on but not with, then the drum is bound somewhere and has to be freed.

Electrical problem/did the motor blow?

It sounds like either one of your solenoids have failed or that the drain pump itself is stuck. See if you can turn the motor by hand. If it is stiff losen the belt and see if it turns freely. If it does turn the water pump by hand and see if it turns freely. If not replace the pump. If it does then re-tighten the belt and turn the belt by hand to see if the tub spin tube / clutch turns when the motor and belt are turned. If the clutch is engage all the time then one of you sloeniods has a problem either with the winding or the center pin of the glider underath th solenoid has failed (Inverted channel). If the pin has sheared drill out the old pin and install a cotter pin in it's place. This shoudl pretty much isolate your problem unless the motor has failed.. As you described the symptoms...it appears the motor thermal overload is tripping. Good luck.

What does the F06 code mean? My machine appears

The F06 code usually indicates a motor related problem. Some potential causes are loose/corroded connections of the wiring harness between the motor and the motor control unit (MCU) or between the motor control unit (MCU) and the central control unit (CCU). Sometimes this problem can be fixed by removing and reseating the electrical connections at these locations, but unfortunately I believe that your motor is shot. I say that because one of the ways to test the motor is to remove belt and turn pulley by hand. It should rotate freely. Then, run motor without belt (which you said you did). If the motor will run without the belt, but won't run under load (with the belt on), then this is a sign that the motor is bad. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Your Problem: Spirit Treadmill motor will not turn on

I'd start by attaching a voltmeter across the motor contacts to see if you get any voltage when the unit is turned on. It's probably an AC motor but I'd check the label to be sure. If you get voltage but no turning either the motor or a startup capacitor is bad. If this is the case try moving the tread by hand with the unit turned on. If it moves on it's own after you start it moving then the start up cap needs to be replaced. Otherwise it may be time to replace the motor. If you don't have voltage across the motor contacts when the machine is turned on, I'd unplug the unit and trace the lines back from the motor to somewhere on the PC board. I'm guessing there's probably a relay on the PC board that controls the motor. I'd use an ohm meter to make sure the relay coil hasn't turned into an open circuit. Next I'd put a voltmeter across the relay coil, plug the unit back in, and turn the treadmill on and off several times. Ideally you should see the voltage across the relay coil go up and down as you turn the treadmill on and off. This voltage could be AC or DC depending on the type of relay used. If you get the proper voltage across the coil but the relay contacts aren’t' opening and closing to provide power to the motor then you need to replace the relay. If you don't get the proper voltage across the relay coil the problem is further back on the PC board.
