To connect to a older tv you need to get yourself an RF modulator. You can get them at wall mart, radio shack, or where any electronics are sold. What an RF modulator does is takes the RCA jack inputs and converts them to a coaxial cable. I had to do this on one of my old tvs. Real easy to hook up and cost around $20.00.

Here is what it looks like. You can also order here also if you need.

Do you have RCA output jacks on the tv. If so youu need to take output from tv to input on home theater.

If you do not have RCA output on TV. You will not be able to get TV sound through home theater.

Hi there,

You need to select the source of your home theater system. Press <SOURCE> on the home theater remote to switch between DVD, TUNER, and LINE modes. Select LINE, then you should now hear audio from your TV, Please make sure that your TV is not muted, just increase the volume until you hear audio on home theater. Also increase the volume of your home theater.

No Sound

Do you have the audio out for your dvd player and cable tv going to the bose speakers or is going to the television. It needs to be connected to the home theater system in order to work. The audio cables from dvd player and cable. Let me know if it works.

Need home theater hooked to TV with built in DVD

This is the easiest way 2 explain it. Hook up on the home theater should be labeled in and out. same as on the tv. The TV might no have that feature as the DVD is built in. You might just have an option for sound from the TV/DVD to the home theater. Again OUT from TV IN to receiver. Same with any other device set up.

Sony Model DAV ? SB 500W Home Theatre System

Please check at rear of TV for Digital Optical IN port as home theater should have optical out port at rear. If you got any optical in port in TV, just connect optical wire between TV and home theater.

2nd option is check Line Out pins at rear of home theater system, if found, hook red-white RCA cable there and put it to same input in TV where you hooked Video (composite or component) cable.

Let me know the results to help you more.

Can't get the surround sound to play the rear speakers and small front speaker

Sounds like it's just in 2 channel stereo mode, only 2 speakers working out of 5 and a sub, look for a selector switch for switching to 5.1 surround, as far as the no video problem try replacing the cable for the video connection.

Home theater system connections

Hi
I have the same tv but my dvd surround is a toshiba, that shouldn't matter though. When I watch a dvd I go to component 2 which is where I have my dvd connected on the input of the tv when I watch tv and want the surround on I go to component 1 which is the tv input then on my dvd player I go to auxillary and I can watch tv in surround. I don't know the LG home theatre system but you should be able to select your inputs like between dvd, tuner, aux. Flip between them and you should get sound. hope this helps.
