Question about HP LaserJet P3005n Printer

2 Answers

HP LJ3005n printer is making loud grinding noises from the fuser to the output roller assemblies, but only when the output roller is engaged. The fuser works fine. I tore apart the printer looking for something wrong, other than a loose gear on the swing arm, which is now tight, I can see nothing wrong. Any ideas?

I have run into this problem several times in the field. There is almost no answer for it, it just starts happening. I have never been able to find a solution to it. Replacing the fuser will not stop the noise... There is a plastic piece that is supposed to provide a specific gap between the fuser gear and the output gear and I tried modifiying that by increasing the gap just a little bit, it stopped the noise, but it also began getting printer jams at the fuser.

Common problem. The fix is to change the fuser AND the fuser idler gear - RU5-0957-000CN. It is a 20 tooth gear. As the teeth wear the noise gets progressively worse.

Needs a new fuser, but will work fine for a while. If you can stand the noise, go for it.

I've had this happen to many of these printers, also, and it is almost always the fuser, but is just my opinion...

Turned on the printer and hear a clicking/grinding noise back by the rollers that exit the paper - can not print How to get whatever is jamming movement resolved?

If you remove the Fuser Assembly and look at the black gear to your left, you will find what is call a Swing Plate Assembly. When those gears gets worn it will cause the Fuser gears not to engage properly and cause jamps and loud noise. Some times you can get by replacing just the gear you can see. If you have to remove teh complete assembly, it is quite a chore and shoud be done by a service technician.

When i power up the printer it make a loud noise. It appears to come from lower area below the cartridge. it makes the noise even if the cartridge isn't in

If this is a grinding noise it will be the gear assembly near the fuser on the printer. You would need a printer repair person to fix this for you.

HP LJ P2015DN making noise/squeaking

As you mentioned that the printer makes loud grinding noise or squeaking when page comes out than i feel this is the noise coming out due to faulty fuser.
I want to be sure so please open the rear bin and try to print if still noise comes than i m sure it is fuser.
If there are smudges on the printed page or if some film coating is coming out with printed page than fuser roller are physically damage.
However in this case i assume fuser is faulty.
If there opening the rear bin noise goes off than top output rollers are faulty.

Thanks and Regards

You problem is not (usually not) the output roller at all but the gears located on the sidewall on the left inside the caity where the fuser installs. There is a repair kit out to fix all of the issues relating to the fuser grinding, machine noise and output roller issues all at one time. It's available at Seattle Platen 1-800-221-2388. Just ask for Dale and tell him you need the 2400 gear repair kit. It runs 10 to 15 dollars.

Hope that helps you.

Major problems when trying to print, Jamming alot & grinding noise

If the paper is an accordion type jam, you should replace the 4 small rollers, the upper feed roller, the upper feed guide, and the lower rollers. all of these are listed on hp's part surfer website.
RF5-0425-040cn, RF5-0434-000cn, RF5-0432-000cn, and RF5-0438-000cn respectively. Basically, get a new exit output assembly part number RG5-0456-180cn.
Does this help?
