Maybe you have to buy an electricity regulator (i think thats what its called in english)

if its too old, its overheating and it shuts down.. but i doubt it because 15 seconds its not much.. check if the vents are blocked anyways..

hope that helps

TV won't stay on for more tha 10/15 seconds - if that

it is most likely a protection mechanism which turns the tv of incase there is a electrical problem inside. I would really suggest that you contact a local repair man and have the set checked.

VCR plays 15 seconds, TV shuts off. Same without tape inserted

Sounds like a typical Switched Mode Power Supply fault, or an internal thermal fault that is shutting down the power supply, over & over. Really you need to get it serviced. You need to get a firm "Quote" for repair, remember these days repair can often exceed replacement cost.

Connecting DVD Player to TV

If the TV doesn't have video/audio input jacks (I don't think this model does) and the DVD player has only video/audio outputs and no RF (channel 3 or 4) output, then you will need an RF converter. They're only about $15 or so. They need to be plugged into an electric outlet, so you may want to get a surge protected outlet strip (if you don't already have one) to plug everything into. Then just hook up the DVD's A/V outputs to the converter and tell Mom to put the TV on channel 3 and make some popcorn.

Speaker hookup on back of tv

I looked up the specs on your TV and Toshiba says that all of the A/V jacks on it are inputs. It doesn't list any outputs for external speakers other than the Coax digital output jack for surround sound systems. This would explain why you don't get any sound. The website where I got this information is as follows...

Sorry for the bad news.

Toshiba MD13P3 13 in. TV/DVD

I have the exact problem. We have three TV/DVD combos from Toshiba, and within the last two weeks all three of them started have the same problem - all at different times. At first I thought one had a power surge problem, so I took it to the TV repair shop (being diagnosed now), then a few days later the second one did the same thing. And now, three days later, the third one (newer model Toshiba) started doing the same thing.

No display with DVD, VCR, or tuner

It sounds to me without knowing the model or type unit that you may need to unplug tv AND take batteries out of remote for a few seconds, replug and start over. Hope it helps
