Question about Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 DVD Player

1 Answer

Failure to load a dvd.

When I insert a dvd, it always confirms "Bad Disc" or it continue's to load until the screen saver pops up. It takes longer and longer to get the dvd to play the disc every time. Some times it will not play at all. And all the dvd's work on other dvd players so i know that its not the disc.
Any advice?

Hi,
It seems that optical laser block gets fail to read data on disc and possible cause could be dirty/ clogged lens or optical laser block failure.
Put lens cleaning disc in unit to clean optical lens and check DVD playback, if that does not solve the issue then optical laser block would be defective and requires replacement that would cost approx new player price.
Hope these info will help.
Thanks.

It continues to say no disc even when a disc is loaded

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, overtime the laser becomes weaker until it can no longer track the dvd disc, It is far cheaper to replace the dvd player than have it repaired.

Nav system

Installing the DVD Map Disc Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
Read the following steps completely.
  1. Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
  2. Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
  3. Press the NAV hard key.
  4. Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
  5. Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  6. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
  7. Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
  1. Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
  2. Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
  3. Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
  4. Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  5. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.

Disc restarts computer

Hey Soumik,

You would be getting this problem due to:

1. ROM memory inside your CD/DVD Drive is not recognised by ur BIOS.
2. Would be problem with ur data cable connector.
3. Settings changed in your BIOS.

When you are inserting any cd or dvd in your drive some times it happens that ur rom memory does not load that much required files in itself.

You need to do the following:

1.First of all check ur bios settings for boot priority likewise FDD, CD/DVD Rom, HDD.
2. increase your Virtual memory that if the ROM bios is not able to load required files then it'll be loaded in virtual mem.

To increase virtual mem. follow following steps:
i. Right click my computer and select properties.
ii. Go to Advanced Tab and then select Settings button of "Visual effects, Processor Scheduling.....and virtual memory"
iii. Again select Advanced Tab
iv. In Virtual memory section select change
v. Uncheck the option for automatically manage paging file size(if it is checked)
vi. Select custom size and type initial size as 1736 and maximum size as 2048
vii. click set button click OK if any confirmation is asked.
viii. Click OK to apply the settings.
ix. Restart ur system.

3. If this doesnot take effect to ur problem then you must be aware of data cables. Try out another data cable of ur hard disk.
as well as Power cable. and then insert disk to checkout whether it is ok or still giving u the problem. if it is then there is no problem with either your system or with data cables and connectors. Replace the DVD/CD Drive.

Bad disc or insert disc problem

If you are using a copied disc try a real one. But this model of DVD Player is made so cheap. it sound like the laser assembly is bad or the motor that spins the disc is stuck or going out. If you are good at electroninics you could take the lid off load a disc and see if it spins if not give it a spin clockwise and see if it takes off. You probably should replace unit for price of a new one.
